Projects ABS GM STEERING COLUMN COVER

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Buckshot40, Mar 22, 2017.

  1. Several years ago I remember seeing an ABS cover for a GM steering column. It covered the column from the column drop/dash to the floor. Does anyone remember these covers and does anyone know if they are still available?
    Thanks,
    W.C.

I remember seeing them advertised but have no recollection of where. A bit of searching found a thread that mentioned it on another board several years ago and the maker was Rod Doors who are out of business now.

Out of business...Try later, under the present administration. 'Older out-of' businesses seem to be regrouping.

had one, did not fit well - tried selling at swap meet for a long time - just form some thin sheet metal or, just use carpet to cover column.

Bought mine back in the late 1980s. Still on car. Suits me. Don't remember where I got it.

  8. ABS sheet material is available in 1/8" thickness from most plastic supply stores - making one ought to be pretty easy.

Had one. Seems like I got it from Juliano's.

Here's mine. The bulge on top covers the ignition switch. There's also a narrow bulge along the top that provides space for the rod that goes to the ignition switch and also for the wiring which breaks out just behind the column drop. Makes for a very clean installation. I'll be surprised if it's no longer available.
