If you want really cheap plastic board for your interior door panels, I learned this from my upholsterer friend. He had a contract with the city transit system to repair seats on buses and noticed that the old ad signs which slide into the outside slots were in a s**** pile. He got them for free and they work great for door panels. I checked with the guys at transit and got them for free too. Another idea I came up with but haven't tried yet is 1/8" thick lexan if you have contacts at a place that makes plastic illuminated signs. Now most signs at stores are huge and come in non-regular sizes so there are always pieces left over that are big enough to use for door panels. The beauty of this is, lexan is very tough. You can hit it with a hammer without it shattering and since it is clear (it gets painted on the inside for a sign), you can see through it to place the attaching holes , window crank holes and such. Since it is too small to use for sign usage, you should be able to get a good deal on it.
