AC 45 spark plug equivalent

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by blackjack, Dec 27, 2006.

  1. Planning to start up my 1957 347 Poncho motor for the first time in 3 years tomorrow.

I see that I need AC 45 spark plugs. Can anyone give me NGK and Bosch equivalent numbers?

I have tried running both NGK and Bosch in my 327. both ran like shit compared to the AC plugs.. find the AC plus

  5. Over here in the UK we have to go with what we can get. Good tip though and I will try and find AC plus plugs.

I Have Tried The Ngk V~power Plugs With Good Luck On A 326 Pontiac I Once Had.

Thing Burned Oil Like The Shit Was Free !!!!

That Was The Only Plug That Would Last.. I Think It Was An Xr~5 ....... But I Could Be Wrong... But They Were Ngk V~power Plugs

ALMOST FORGOT ...... AC DONT MAKE A STRAIGHT 45 ANYMORE

YOU WOUULD NEED AN "R45" ... NO BIG DEAL UNLESS YOU HAVE A MAG ON IT.. THEN YA CANT RUN A RESISTOR PLUG.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY STRAIGHT "45" AC's ... LEMME KNOW, I NEED THEM FOR MY DeSoto WITH A VERTEX MAG

Have brand new box of AC 45 (8) on shelf, PM if you are interested.

  9. Forgive the ignorance, but what happens if you run resistor plugs on a magneto?

My AC Delco book lists W9E (Bosch) or B4 (NGK) as equivalents to their 45. Hope this helps! :)
