accidentally bought half a 41 Willys

  1. I'm in Tennessee and I don't find auctions like that. All I seem to find are Harbor Freight tools boxes full of rusty Chinese tools that sell for $500 bucks...

If the motor turns over, i might be interested in it for a old midget racer i have

  4. Maybe he owned both vehicles - the rear dealer plate may have a clue too.
And if you owned a plate that said "Willys" how much do you think it would go for on epay ?

There's a 1937 willys sedan on Detroit area CL for $1700! Body only (rough)

  6. The Jeepster had been around for years, but personalized plates were new on the horizon back then...I tried to get Willys on a plate for a '38 sedan, but had to settle for something close. He may have picked it up from a local swap meet. Ebay wasn't even around then.

Back then Willys stuff could hardley be given away...hard to believe, but true...my take on today's Willys prices (rediculously stupid)...that said I still own a couple !

I have an extra set of glove box doors that would fit that...and a decent hood.

Well, I have been bombarded with pm's inquiring to buy. I recon I am going to put it in the classifieds or on the bay. Although, the woody version is very tempting. The engine is complete from air cleaner to oil pan with radiator intact too. Dash has all gauges and the pedals and master are all there too. I better let it go so I can concentrate on building my A coupe. I would love to build it as a coupe with the rear that was pictured but I could never afford to have that rear hammered out for me.

  13. Send it to Kiwi Kev, and watch him grow a car out of it!

  14. If you are going to sell it give the guys here the first shot,,keep it in the Hamb family. HRP

And there's far less likelihood of everyone confusing it for the numerous fiberglass bodies out there.

I agree. Forget about the 'Bay. Let someone here get it and you will see it turn into something very cool.

  19. I'm thinking that you don't have to much money into this thing, but you'd like a nice return on your investement, so here is my idea. Keep it off eBay, and make it a HAMB only raffle. Each ticket cost $500, if you only get 10 guys, that's $5000 to you, or 20 guys gets you $10,000 and so on. I'm betting you'll get more than 20 involved @ $500 a chance for a steel Willys front clip. Winner has to have it picked up, so no real shipping head aches for you. I'll also bet there will be a few new people joining the HAMB, for a crack at it. Just thinking out loud.

If he is smart he will put it in e-bay. Let the bidders set the price.

Unless you'd be happy with "X" dollars the bay would be the place to go, IMO. Bob

^^ If it's not being done for a charity/fund raiser , i.e. non for profit agency it's considered illegal gambling.
