Last Saturday the Aces held their annual Hot Rod Resurrection event at Old World in Huntington Beach. I couldn't stick around for the whole thing, but I did drive in with some buddies, but left the hot rod out in the parking lot and strolled around with my cel phone (forgot my camera!) and snapped some photos. @Bad Bob 's 34 5w coupe This wonderful traditional A-V8 is owned by a fellow HAMBer, but I unfortunately forgot his handle, though I think his name is Mike. Mike, I apologize for forgetting your name, please speak up so we can give you due applause for this bitchin hot rod. @armymike and his 31 Chevy
Blues, you got some great shots, cell phone camera quality has gotten really good. Thanks for posting!
I'm not sure what you mean, it's open to pretty much anyone. There may be a cutoff year, like mid 60's or so, like the HAMB, but I've seen street rods and even rat rods; though most of the cars are traditional styled hot rods. You don't have to ask to attend, you just show up. Maybe you're thinking of a different show. BTW, that truck in your avatar looks killer! Very nice.
Thanks, no it's not invitational, it's open to pretty much any hot rod. Traditional hot rods predominate, but there's no traditional cops checking over the cars to approve them. They even let my truck in
Hello, There were some nice cars as always. Great photos… if you have any knowledge from the club members about that black chopped Ford truck, that would be great. Perhaps it might be a coincidence, but it sure looks like the one from 1956-57 in our old Westside of Long Beach neighborhood. Other than a few differences, like tires/rims, color, and upholstery, the chopped top on the truck just looks like the original one that was made and that we saw every day we walked by the owner’s shop. His was Tahitian Red with White upholstery, chromed reversed wheels and had the same/similar chopped stance as the current Black truck. It was the first custom truck we had seen in person. The owner is now gone and his older two sons have no idea of the truck’s whereabouts. Perhaps it stay in So Cal all of these years… Jnaki It may have been in some magazines, the memory from 1956-57 was not recorded as we had no idea of cameras other than our dad's huge Graflex Camera. So, obviously, no photographs for us. But, we saw it almost daily, as we walked to the park nearby for our activities. It was too nice of a custom truck used as a daily driver and parked on a major street in front of his storefront, daily. Thanks… for any information... If anyone has old magazines, when you have spare time to just read, please keep and eye out for this Tahitian Red chopped truck with white tuck/roll upholstery and chromed reversed rims. A set of digital films from my library will be sent to you for your discovery. Thank you... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/bringing-one-back-from-the-dead.1278871/#post-14709523
