Absolutely, that I am. Thanks for sharing those extra shots. Right up my alley. I caught the one below too in one of your earlier posts.

Also, killer looking shop by the way. Really nice. I use to keep my trucks in a cool old shop kind of like that too, but had to downsize. So, now the driver has to brave it outside and my project is the only one under a roof for now.

I've been back from the trip for over a week and have had numerous PM requests for more photos of the old towns, cars and buildings I saw. I'm too busy to email everyone so I'll post up a bunch over the next day or so.

    Hope you enjoy......

  20. great pictures, thanks again for sharing your trip with us!

  21. I've tried to buy that big phillips 66 sign...it's only 25 mins from my house. The guy said he wants $2500.....I think he just likes knowing that people want it. I've always loved that Ranch House sign.....it'd be sweet all restored in a shop. It's just outside Alamogordo no?
Awesome thread guys....great pictures! My little guy loves the shirt I got for him at the roundup thanx!

  22. Thanks John for all the great pictures and read, I really love the old towns, signage, maybe a calendar in the future?

    RoadFarmer,

I loved the town of EARTH TEXAS. We were on a thrash to get to Bob Owens' place the morning we passed thru and I was frozen from driving all morning in 40 degree weather. At speed the van has a way directing the air right at the back of my head and at my left leg and foot. I think I was almost numb about the time we passed thru Earth. Nice to know someone that lives there. I hazard a guess that you are a farmer?

Please post up a photo of your son wearing his Acme shirt; we would love to see it!

    Thanks,

great pictures, thanks for posting! it's weird to me to see these old deserted towns and think that everything just packed up and left. i was born and lived in new jersey for 45 years where every square inch is used for something! hard to imagine any of it ever being vacant again.

This is a pretty cool image. The bright red sign juxtaposed against the muted backdrop is pretty cool.

The swastikas on that building are interesting and indicative to native american culture. A lot of times you see them being covered up now. Concord, NC used to have them on their manholes but those have been disappearing.

And this building.....damn this thing is rad. Hopefully more and more people will commision you to build signage like this ACME!!!!

  30. I love the old building pics.I took a bunch in Taylor TX last year when I went to the Roundup. For some reason I find abandoned buildings fascinating weather their 50 years old or 5000 years old.
