Split Window I saw parked at the Little League fields yesterday. The level of detail is outstanding.

If the location looks familiar, it's in Andermatt. Sean Connery parked the DB5 right here in Goldfinger, when it was still a gas station.

 

I always thought that Beetles were un-cool.But I'm looking mostly at ones that have been hotroded and they look really nice.And the parts available to customize them are plentiful!!

 

Spring has sprung.

 

I know I feel the same way. I haven't really been paying attention to them and then now all of a sudden I'm noticing them now. I feel like they are a bit cheaper to obtain and also cheaper to fix up than American traditional hot rods. What do you guys think? Is this perception true in your experience?

 

Their aftermarket for hotrod parts is prevalent but becoming more expensive and smaller as the old guard age out. Mofoco is the latest casualty, CB Performance is for sale. Engine cases are $2k unmachined.

 

depends on what you are after. Like anything it comes down to money and how fast u want to go. Some guys just like to run them with a stock engine but slam it on the ground, others go for the big engines and strong diff/gearbox etc and slam it on the ground lol

 

Motors are getting expensive and although original cars can be painfully slow, a mildly warmed up motor is enough to let you keep up with traffic. I'm not sure there's much point trying to build a really quick one. Newer cars are generally quicker and cheaper if fast is what you want and a few mods will make a m***ive difference.
The quality of new repro body panels is m***ively better than it was 30 years ago.
What is nice compared to US car parts, is how light and small it all is. Being able to easily pick up a cylinder head (or two) with one hand instead of some giant lump of cast iron.

 

Finally got the Ghia through the registration process in Germany. It was a solid, painted, trimmed car, that had been restored about 10 years ago (tiny bit of welding and paint, trim), but never properly finished or driven at all. As a result, I ended up replacing the front axle & stub axles, the complete brake system, steering, carbs and ignition, and wheels and tyres. And then had to convince the tester that my modifications are all period correct. It's so nice to be able to finally drive it. It's not super fast, as it has a warmed up 30hp motor, with Okrasa heads and twin carbs - maybe 40hp - but it isn't m***ively slow either. No problem on the Autobahn. I'm still p***ing trucks. I count that as a win.

Dream volks bus, Feb of 1955 barndoor Irish built

 

Went and picked up this pile over the weekend. Winched it out of the garage and onto the trailer, slammed the motor in right there on said trailer and drove it off the next day!

I'm not a bay window guy so this one will be for sale soon. Someone could probably drive it home, it actually drives pretty nice.

Plate from my wife’s 912Targa. Got into a ******* match with San Diego Porsche club, so when the car was sold, I transferred the plate to a Honda Hopper

 

Deluxe, no sunroof though.

I am not a VW enthusiast but a good friend of mine is one of the premier VW collectors in this country. He recently sent me these pictures of an article that was printed about one of his KDF VW’s. The article mentions Brian as the owner, my friend and Brian did some horse trading. He owns or has owned just about every example of VW powered vehicle, Kubelwagon, Shwimwagon, KDF, Hebmuller, etc. (spelling may be incorrect)

Picked up 74 SB, all original 36,000 miles,original floor pans, rebuilt motor, disks, custom interior, tracing a elec issue, then going to paint it, and dump it to finance my 50 Dodge pick up rod.

 

A little gem I saw at work the other day.

 

Here's a '63 ragtop that I've been seriously thinking about buying but the seller's gotta come down with his asking price.At first he was asking $31,500.00! He's come down to $25,500.00 but it's still too high.I think it's $19,500.00 at most.It has a bit of a hotrod vibe with the nerf bars,stance,wheel/tire combo and a Hurst INDY shifter.Great colour combo and the body and paint are real nice.
