If using the early Hemi ( 392 ) and use a Lasalle transmission. I know a adaptor for sale ( no name, so not ex Hildenbrant ) but starter at std side = not good for a 32 frame/steeringbox ) but is was market ’early Hemi to Lasalle’ but if that mean the baby Hemi pre 55 with the incast bell or the 392 - I don’t know. I do know it did not fit to a 392 block. Seller had no idea why. I suspect one should use the std adapter ring this engine might has (?) I saw this in a book. Look like starter at passanger side ? 3 bolt rows to get this togheter. Se picture of the adaptor for sale. Ideas.
It might be a Trans-Dapt housing. If it is, it will have a part number cast on it somewhere (like HC-27) that will identify it. It wouldn't bolt directly to the engine block; it would bolt to the original thick aluminum plate that mounts the starter.
I don't believe that the plate has to be from a standard shift car. I used to have a Trans-Dapt bell housing that allowed the use of General Motors 4 speeds behind a '54-'58 Chrysler hemi, and it worked in conjunction with the factory plate from an automatic.
I bought a short bellhousing 331 that has a very similar adapter to that. It has the starter on the passenger side. It also came with an aluminum flywheel and a Long-style pressure plate setup. I couldn't find any identifying marks anywhere on it, not even a part number.
Your 331 is that 54/55 or the one before with bell in block ? Nice has the starter at passanger side.
This seems be as the picture from the book, a std Chrysler adapter ring ( you has 2 rings, right ? ) So after the std ring is then ex a Cragar ring to early Ford. Thats a good idea but how to find second ring ? But then one need find the adaptor early Ford to Lasalle with starter on passanger side. -This will not be easy 2025, or ? Only way I guess find a kit with a transmission that has fit togheter. This was not unusual way then but today ? One case is guys has parts never let it go.
that is similar to how mine is, 2 adapter rings, I have 354 to early Ford, the problem is getting a T-O bearing to work, yes, it mounts the starter on the passenger side.
My buddy said he used a Hemi to a 49-64 ford trans adapter and then an adapter for a 49-64 trans to Lasalle adapter on an Anglia he used to have. Not sure of all the details. Borrowed pics from the internet.
