I was wondering how to wire in the signal lights to work off the brake lights (stock wiring)if thats possible in my 49 f1... if there was signal lights on it from the factory there wasn't any when I got it
I got one of them signal light setups that hose clamp to the column (no instructions)

  2. yes, you can use your brake lights as you turn signals too , but it will require a small bit of rewiring.

first, you need to get the wiring diagram for the clamp on turn signal switch.. you will then see that the brake light wire no longer goes directy from the brake switch to the rear taillights, but to the turn sgnal switch....that is to interupt the brake light when signaling turn and braking at the same time

your brake lights now are prbabilly wired together with a sinle wire , you will have to separate them and run seperate wires to you new turn signal switch...you can use the present wire on one light and just run one new wire to the other side...wire them both into the new turn signal switch....and add a flasher into the wire for the power feed to the seitch.. make that hot only when you ignition is on... as i said before , the wire coming from the brake light switch also goes to the new turn signal swtch , and is usually hot all the time

I've got a pretty nice looking signal setup but no wiring diagram might be I'll have to buy one that includes the diagram

its a 7 wire dominion auto one, even has emergency flashers by the looks of it
any other search things besides google to use? I am having no luck tracking down a wiring diagram

at least its good to know it can be done and I thank you for thatbit of info, I wouldn't have been to pleased having 4 big tailights
