I've never been before. Looks like a worthwhile show! Dave
if yer going get there early...parking is a premium. they do a cruise but might as well call it a park. might run up there but ive never been very impressed with it....
too far for me, but such a nice area to visit. if anyone goes, be sure to check out the lake. real cool.
HERE THE DEAL .... Unless you recived your REGISTRATION already you will not be able to get into the grounds of Ft. Herny. This show get's booked back full in Feb. If you are going be prepaired to park on the street with the others....Sorry!
Yeh parking sucks there - get a spot on the street EARLY Sat morning or late FRIDAY night - they probably won't tow it overnight (they didn't last year anyway) The Cruise is about useless - if you didn't pre-register or don't have the "registration sticker" on your windshield you can't register. COPS are on foot and bike patrol the entire time - and they are pretty brutal - you can't even chirp the tires without someone saying something. Not as bad as the A-Holes in the Car-Corral @ Goodguys Rhinebeck though. Decent show - tons of cars, lots of muscle, lots of street rods, lacking in "Traditional" not much for "Vendors/Swap", Lots of Blowers - gees NY'ers like their blowers - I don't think I ever seen that many @ a show before. @ least those are my opinions
All of these things are true PLUS the lousy attitude of the ARK crew. They all walk around like they have PMS or something. What a grouchy bunch!!"It's MY way or the Hiway !" Best thing is to leave your car in a hotel parking lot and walk around. The place is packed.
If you're local and can't get in or don't want to go so far, the Mohican Model A Club show is 9/10 at the Fireman's Field in Wampsville NY. They usually get 150 cars or more and have a big flea market - I'll be there. Where the heck is Wampsville? On NY Route 5 just west of Oneida, about a half hour drive east of Syracuse, and about halfway in between exits 32 and 33 on the Thruway. Not far from the casino, too. You guys with low cars are going to want to come in the back way from Onieda, from the east up the north side of the field (I forget what that street's name is). Last week when I was through town the main street on the west side of the field was torn up with no pavement at all in spots, rough, and I have a feeling it won't be done by Sunday. All the way from Route 5 to Canal Road.
