I’m building a ‘32 with new drum brakes on all 4 corners. When installing the proportioning brake valve do I just run the back brakes through this valve or should I also run the front brakes through it. The valve is a Speedway block valve with the brake light switch on it. It includes ports for the front brake line. Literature I’ve read in other publications do not show the front brake lines running through this valve. Thank you
I plumbed 100's of chassis in my chassis business and always did the prop valve in just the rear brakes line. On another note I also did countless numbers of 28-34 chassis with drums front and rear and never used a prop valve. I did always use an MC that had the residual valves built in.
Sounds like you are describing a combination valve. A proportioning valve has only an inlet and outlet and incorporates an adjustment knob. Neither is required for a front & rear drum brake system. If the master cylinder does not have residual check valves (which aftermarket "Corvette" style masters do not) you need to install 10 psi valves in both the front and rear circuits.
