Adjustable Spring Perches...SO???

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Revived 265, Jan 9, 2013.

  1. I have split wishbones, with a 48" I beam and adjustable spring perches, why? The amount of adjustment is so small on the bolts that it seems it would only move the wheels 1/8" in either direction. With all my measurements, it seems that the wheels are exactly where they should be. Was it pure luck when I installed the spring and suspension?

  2. No idea, bump for more answers. How about a photo.

The only adjustable spring perches I'm familiar with have a rotating eye to prevent spring twist. They are not meant to align an axle side-to-side.

The adustable perches allow you to adjust your wheel castor angle without binding up your transverse spring.

  5. The also prevent bump steer. HRP

Only if one is a dead perch. If they are both for shackles, that won't prevent steering problems.

  7. Yep, both are adjustable. Been reading some more and I now understand they are to prevent spring binding and the caster is set by the mounts of the split bones on the frame. So, if I get the caster set correct then I can tighten down the adjustable perches..........so it seems to me. Thanks all
