Recently, I put on a Holley 12-501 fuel pressure regulator (one inlet, two outlets, for carbureted vehicles). It came from the factory with a grease pen marking indicating its factory setting. After installing it, I'm still getting way too much fuel pressure to the Edelbrock 600. My question is, how do you set it to the minimum (4.5 psi) pressure? I loosened the lock nut and turned the allen head adjusting screw about 1/4 turn, but there doesn't seem to be any resistance on the adjusting screw, so I don't know where I'm at. Do I just keep turning counterclockwise, or what? Thanks.
Do not "deadhead" your outlets. The pump doesn't like it at all, and will try to push max pressure throught the regulator. (I discovered this the hard way.) Hook up your carb(s) and fire the pump up, then adjust to your liking. Roger
Put a temporary gauge in the line and start the engine; it must be running to set pressure correctly.
I have the same unit on my three duece setup feeding a mopar 383 in my bucket. Thing sucks ass. I can't get it to work reliable. It will read 3psi when cold, then nothing when warm. I crank it up it reads 6psi when cold then 3 when warm, what gives. Piece of shit brand new Holley product is just as good as the piece of shit holley carbs it feeds. Just one more part to cause a headache.
Clockwise to increase pressure, Anticlock to decrease, Set it at 5-6psi and you should be good to go. Steve.
