Several years ago I read an intersting tech article in the GoodGuys Gazette about adjusting your timing for the way today's gas is mixed . you need to know what cam you have and it had a chart for how many degrees advance you would ad to the initial advance that your car should have . I used this formula on my GMC and it worked really well . I have a friend that has a truck that is a dog and it shouldn't be , anyway I lost this article. does this ring a bell with anybody out there ?

  2. Sometimes the timing marks can be off on an unknown engine. If it pings under full load, retard, test again..
