Hey again guys, i have been hard at work cleaning the panel truck and starting to fix things on it. first thing is im shipping my axle and knuckles off to sid to have him do a 3" drop, install new king pins and modify my steering arms for regular tie rod ends. I need some advice on how to ship this thing? Second question is im trying to install front windshields in the truck (53 chevy panel truck) i have new windshields and a new seal kit from the truck shop here in concord nc. i have tried installing these things about 4 times now...including breaking one windshield i finally got them almost seated with the lip wrapped around on all sides but its just not quite sliding in far enough. the lip is barely seated around the top edge. im using hot soapy water, as a lubricant and i also soaked the seal in hot soapy water for about an hour before trying to install this last time. also of course using the rope in method.. thanks in advance for all the help as always guys

Fastenall is a good way to ship but the parts must not over hang any side of a typical pallet and be really secured in place. I just shipped 2 fiberglass fenders to the midwest and it was $200 via Fastenal. I bought a Bronco 9 inch from a guy in Penn. and he shipped it to me here in NC via UPS. I had him address it to my work address and the UPS guy came in and asked who had a rear end for a car shipped to them. Then he wanted to know how I was going to get it off his truck. I said simple back right up to mine, put the tailgate down, and slid it on over into my truck without having to lift it. He was somewhat amused. Wasn't cheap though... I think like $300.
ok i will check into fastenal for sure, but will they deliver to an address? im thinking sid wont want to go pick up my axle from fastenal lol
That is the issue with Fastenal, they have to pick it up at the store. I've got both Fedex and UPS accounts that I ship with. I set them up when I was doing a lot of Ebay selling and the buisness really isn't a business but gets a discount of sorts. There is a Zumo vintage auto parts isn't there? If you can have it shipped back to a business address that saves some coin too over having it delivered to the house. On the windshield, ask around and see if there is a local guy who works in a glass shop that does little side jobs installing glass.
I shipped my axle to Sid in a cardboard box that used to contain 4 foot florescent bulbs. I sent it UPS and it cost around $40 from Washington.
