Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Christie, Feb 2, 2014.

  1. so i'm finally ready to install some of my trim on the car (55 ford fairlane) and purchased some plastic trim clips from ebay. has anyone ever used these? also, I have never put on trim clips like these so I have no idea how to use them, technique for not damaging the trim, paint etc...I was good however at ripping them off. :D

I prefer the metal trim clips that are shaped just like those. Altha fasteners in Florida have a good selection.

The little tang gets pulled around the small end of the clip, you can find pictures of installed clips online. I put tape over the holes and line up all of the clips in the trim piece to the holes so you don't scratch the paint. You'll have to make minute adjustments to get them all lined up and then remove the tape and push them home. A helper will be nice on the long pieces. Take your time, good luck.
