Get the one with the sway control mount, and buy one, they are cheap in comparison to the whole setup. AS above said, get p***ed by a semi on the interstate and when your truck and trailer tracks in a different section of the road and the vacuum pulls your trailer 12 to 18 inches towards the semi you will be glad you paid the extra 80 dollars for a sway control. Weight distribution bars do exactly that, distribute weight, a sway control controls the sway. Get a hitch that is rated closely to what your tongue weight will be. IF you use 1200 bars on a trailer that only has 500 pounds of tongue weight you will not have any spring in the bars and will put way to much undo stress on the tongue of the trailer when you hit dips in the road. And in worse case bend the tongue of the trailer. Any questions give a call.
Also get the best brake controller you can afford, primus iq from tekonsha is the lowest I would go.

For as long as I can remember my dad (and now my brother) have towed their race trailers using an Equal-i-zer Hitch. Trying to remember for sure, but I believe both of them had GMC trucks to tow the race trailer with - though my dad's may have been a Chevy. Either way - I know they have been very happy with them. I have towed their race trailers as well at different times and there is no question I can tell the difference and feel a lot safer with a weight distribution hitch.

I had a Reese and an Easy-Lift over the years. Both did a good job.

I have used several different weight distributing hitches in the last 35 years. Round bar, square bar, and also used the friction types sway control. Now I have this https://www.equalizerhitch.com/
It is far superior to the ones that have the chains connecting the tips of the bars. I pull my 28 ft box trailer with a total weight of 9,000 lb with my half ton ram truck, and I can barely tell it's even there. Excellent control out of this thing. They're not cheap, but if you tow a lot, they are worth it.

Then leave it to an FNG who most likely never post again or post something that the moderators give the boot to find the thread on Google.
I still say there should be a way after a thread is dead for six months or so that only the OP can reopen the thread.

another forum I'm has a note at the bottom that says "this thread will be locked one year after the last reply".I expect there might be a forum setting that can be configured to do this.

But we don't really need to give Ryan even more things to do, do we?

I wonder if that guy is still trying to figure out which hitch to buy after 11 years?

After 11 years the buying new means the likely hood of being made in China. Just replaced a fuel pump that made it less than 500 miles

I'm not so much in favour of locking a thread after 'x' time but, perhaps, a red flag of sorts on the reply box.

As for made-in-china, just take a look around the house....what isn't made there?
