I'm fairly new to the HAMB and I need some advice from some of you guys that have been there, done that!:D

I picked up a 32 cab and It's got the normal rust out around the bottom. But, the only other real challenge is that the visor looks like someone tried to rip it off with bull dozer!

I'll try to attach some pics.

What are my options? Would it look good if I just cut it off at the roof line and filled in the ends?

    Thanks for you help.

I think it would look odd if you just took it off and left that blunt area there. The BIG panel delivery trucks Ford built in 33-34 has a rolled header area without a visor that would be something to try to copy. My camera won't take clear closeups but the book Ford Trucks Since 1905 has lots of photos.

The truck HAS to have the visor to look right. You can usually find cabs without doors CHEAP and sometimes you can buy just the top section, keep an eye out on ebay and swap meets. The top just unbolts, so it should be an easy fix, after you find the top section.

    Step 1 weld
    step 2 hammer
Doesn't look that bad at all.

Another idea might be to modify one from a Model A car. They are available new and with a little slicing and dicing could be a worthy choice.

Yeah, that's what I thought at first also. The edges are so bent and jagged where the two pieces meet! Then there's a crease in the middle of the visor where it was bent upward. I'm not afraid to hammer and dolly it. I am just wondering if I could ever get the right contour back!

    Thanks all for your input.:)

That's really not too bad of a tear. Take your time with a hammer and welder and you'll surprise even yourself.
