Been thinking about a similar solution, was gonna buy a Fat Man or other modern ch***is for the Slant & switch all sheet metal & interior over, then go with a BB Chev in the new ch***is. Keep the '35 ch***is complete with the Flatty and build a pickup on that ch***is. Same ch***is used for PU's and P***. cars from I believe '32 to '46, '34 to '40 exactly the same. That ch***is is in perfect shape and with body off could refinish before putting PU cab & bed on it. Then I saw / talked to the guy about the '36 Chev PU and thought I'd bounce the trade thing off you guys. Majority sentiment is bad trade keep the '35.

20160901_122740.jpg 36 truck.jpg Tony, I have a 36 Ford tudor "LOOSELY " built as a traditional styled hot rod AND a 36 Chevy low cab that's hot rodded. I have owned the Pick up just shy of 40 years and the sedan for 24 years, that said if I wasn't so attached to the truck, it would be gone in a heart beat to keep he Ford. Your sedan has a style that that old truck will never have. Tough decision I know, KEEP THE FORD.

Also Tony, my Ford has a 3" Mor-drop axle , C.E front spring with an unsplit wish bone with C.E. parallel spring kit out back, the truck has a Fat Man front end and leafs out back. The sedan out rides and out handles the truck by a large margin. Do what you want but I personally would never put an independent front end on any thing ever again, just sayin. Mitch.

with all else being equal I'd rather have the truck. those old trucks are too cool.

    Interesting dilemma.
I gave up a '35 Slantback to get my '32 Ford pickup.
    I don't regret it.....small cab and all!

Thx for all the good advise. Still going to the next step but won't be an even swap. Asking for $10K and along with the '36 Chev PU.

If that is really your plan for that '35, then please trade for the Chevy pickup so that nice clean sedan doesn't befall that fate.

I can't imagine why anyone would do that. Even if what you really want is a streetrod with modern suspension, why cut up a car that's already done so nicely? Just buy one that's already done up like that. There are tons of them around.

Squablow, I totally agree about not cutting up the '35 body, & even though I'll be trying for the '36 Chev PU with money coming back as stated in last post, have you seen what a nicely built resto-mod ? streetrod '35 Slant Tudor goes for. They start around $35k to $40K and up from there for the real nice ones.
If I don't get the Chevy PU I'll move forward with the new frame. There will be no cutting up of the '35 Slant. Fat man and others make modern version frames specifically designed for the '35 Ford and others which are basically bolt the body on for $ 12K to $15K depending how crazy you want to go.
    No sheet metal cutting required.
As for building a '34 to '40 PU on the old frame few very minor changes to accommodate the truck cab and bed. I'd leave the Flatty and stock trans in it along with the steering & pedal ***y. I believe the cost of refitting / building both will be significantly less than just buying a finished Rodded '35 Slant. Would end up with both :).
Again all, thx for all the good advise & comments. Definitely helped.
