I’ve looked around with not much luck. I have a pair of afbs that the throttle shafts have some “play” in. Does any one make an oversized shaft or should I even worry about this? Thanks

Depends how bad they are, will start to give idle and very low speed issues if they’re really rough.
You can ream the hole in the carb and fit a bronze bush.

Generally, it's not the shafts that are worn, it is the softer aluminum carb base.
Fix is ream and bronze bush the carb body shaft holes and re-use the existing shafts.
Rochester Q-jet's are the same way.

The genuine Carter AFB's were set up with looser clearances than Holley or Rochester. That large aluminum throttle body has to expand when hot. If the shafts are too tight, they will bind. Be careful about fixing a problem that may not exist.
