Does any body remember the 1932 Ford steel front fenders made and sold by AFORD back in the 1980's? They were supposedly stamped at the Boeing aircraft plant in Cal/ Oregon? They were excellent repops.
Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach,CA is where they were stamped. I had a set. The Ford Store in San Dimas still has a set or 2 stashed.Yes they were excellent and fit fine.
Boeing did buy out Douglas. Maybe that’s why you mentioned them. Douglas Aircraft is all gone now. All that remain’s of the Long Beach Ca. location is this assembly hanger that Mercedes Benz uses now to hub out vehicles.
I know that Douglas is long gone. I should have mentioned that. Those fenders were at that time referred to Douglas Aircraft. I think those fenders were made back in the late 1980's. I bought my set in the mid 1990's.Nice 56 By the way !! Graduated from Millikan High and your 56 reminds me of those days.
When I was building my 3W I needed front fenders and a friend had a pair made by Bill Honda. Who as I recall worked at Douglas. This was back in the early '80s. They were much closer to the originals than what's available today. But you won't just bolt on fenders to a '32 without fitting them. Too many variables between frame width and body position. Brookville sells a good product but they need fitting.
I'm thinking that one of our resident chassis builders has noted that in the past. I'd go with what Fogger said in that they all will need fitting to fit right as in as close to perfect as you can get.
I recently put 4 United Pacific fenders on my 32 pickup with an original frame. The shop I had make the swap was a general repair shop not a body shop. As per my instructions I had them scuff the fenders and paint them with Rustoleum XL rattle can gloss black. They said the fenders were virtually a bolt on as was the UP 2 inch chopped front apron. They bolted right up to the frame, fender brace and running boards. The rear wee a perfect fit to the box. The labor for the switch was about 8 hrs. I've got another pair of fronts and roadster rears with frame horn covers & splash apron coming for a future project.
