You have to see this.. I don't know if everyone remembers or not, but I used to have a '58 Olds 88, which I gave away to Kustombuilder's brother. I had rebuilt the engine in that car, so I kept the original motor to put into ANOTHER '58 Olds that I got which was more complete. It was going to be a hot motor, bored .30 over, isky cam, tri-power.. it was a 371. Anyway, after my friend and I transplanted the engine, it pretty much destroyed itself withing 15 seconds of running.. I pulled the plug on the oil pan, and LOTS of water and oil came out. That was the end of that. Sold it on Ebay, done. That was 2 years ago. I got an email from the guy I sold it to today. He sent me a picture of what happened to that engine.. apparently, one of my "professionally" rebuilt heads had a stuck valve, and when the piston hit it.. BLAM-O... check this out...
Naw I told him the engine probably had a hole in the block he just bought the car for parts, he thought I would think it was interesting. And I do! I think it's sweet looking, though at the time... i was quite unhappy...
The cylinder wall went? Being from the North, I see alot of freeze cracks. Are you sure it hadn't frozen, and then got pushed out by compression? Just a thought... EDIT: NEVER MIND... I see the piston was gone, too. JOE
