After being mostly a spectator for more then a year, I figure I better formally introduce myself and dive in. I spent many summers and miles as a kid traveling around the mid-west in the back of my dad's '46 Chevy Panel that he had rodded. Too bad there isn't many rod runs like there were in the late 70's and 80's! My dad always had a project of some sort going in the garage, wether it was his or something he was doing on the side to make some extra cash. Now the two of keep busy in his garage. At risk of sounding too corny... I would say the 10 -15 hours a week I spend in the garage with my dad are priceless! I have a few cars/projects: '60 Chrylser New Yorker (black primer w/white and flake scallops, white vinyl tuck and roll), '32 Ford PU (should be in the classified section soon), '47 Chevy Aerosedan (I've had for almost 8 years, haven't touched it for 4 years), '70 Monte Carlo (I've had since I was 15). I am a member of Resurrected Tin, a car club that works their tail off to put on an event the way they used to be in the 70's - 80's. No plastic trophies, get your $ worth, and have a good time! So if you are ever looking for somewhere to go on the second Saturday of July, check it out, you won't be disappointed.
Welcome Mr. VW. from an ex-Marshalltownian (from the Goodtimers days). I know who you are and I'm sure if you saw me you'd recognize who I am. Heck, I think we may have even played together as 8 yearolds at those 70's rod runs. An aquanitance of ours that I now work with that used to work with you at Pella let me know you were on the HAMB. Won't be long before your Dad's panel will be considered "Tradional" and people will be gawking at it as a "survivor"......
Welcome ! I used to visit Pella when I was down that way for the Knoxville Nationals (70's thru early 80's). Best food in the state at the Strawtown Inn.
