Hi guy been a while since I have posted I haven't done much lately as I've had a few real world issues and I must say I have lost interest in the coupe atm. So now I'm going to try and fire up and get her finished I have excepted the fact that I can not run the Harman Collins mag with a gen driven fan. So it's either s**** the mag or run a thermo. Decided I have spent too much time and money on the ****** mag as well as loving the way she looks. So I've ordered a powergen to up the amps to run a electric fan. I am in need of some help on how I should mount and some what hide one of those dog ugly thermo fans??? I've have been told I will need approximately 1800cfm so it's looking like a big ******* 16" Spal , is this an over kill? Has anyone some how made one look a little more appealing or hidden it in a shroud. I'm wanting to run with a puller as aposte to a pusher style so space is also very limited. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm really stuck on this and not able to come up with solution. Thanks Fnjunk
Hi mate, with regards to the thermo, whilst there are a few methods to visually cover the unit (there's a thread that Bobby Green did using a 50's style fan gaurd, although I'd paint it flat black as we don't really want it to visually stand out), but is is there any specific reason you don't want to set it up in the 'push configuration'?. I appreciate that there's a perspective that behind the radiator is more effective (although in 16" that would be a marginal variance I suspect from my experience), and removes the chance of it being a possible visual distraction between the grill and radiator when looking at the car front on. However, just looking at mine, and your earlier photo, if its black on black under a black bar grill (ie fairly well hidden in the scheme of things), and a serviceable large area across the lower section of radiator, would this not offer a serviceable solution, with the bonus of not seeing any of that distraction when you open the hood? I'll look for a couple of shroud examples for you, but kind of curious with reference to the positioning, as whilst the last thing you want is it to be a visual eye-saw, I think there's a number of effective solutions to minimize that, whilst offering an effective volume of air displacement. Cheers, Drewfus
Thanks Drewfus Two reason's for wanting to run it on the engine side one being efficiency the other being I really don't want to see it behind the grill. I did considered some sort of fly screen Behind the grill to hide it but that may affect the air flow also? Could you tell me what thread Bobby Green uses the 50 style fan Gaurd as I'm unable to find it? Thanks for your input mate. Cheers Darren
Sorry for the delay response, see below (Note: personally I'd like it to visually be hidden, hence painted black, but you get the idea) http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/electric-fans-are-ugly-tech.162030/ Either way, get it on the car, and in motion, as the best view is from the drivers seat.
