I'm scraping off all the undercoating and plan to paint the underside of the car and then coat it with Upol Raptor. The question is, what kind of paint should I use? POR15 is durable, but I doubt I'll be able to get the surface clear enough for a paint as finicky as POR15. I have some Eastwood rust encapsulator for the rusty parts, but it's a bit pricey for the whole car. Rustoleum?

I don't have a lift or rotisserie, so I'm doing it the traditional way. :)

Do you not just Raptor to your cleaned surface?

That stuff is so ridiculously hard aint nothing getting through it.

I've done my last 3 builds using Rustoleum gloss black and it's held up great for my cars. I do the whole under body, and frames also. One car has 14 years on it, and many thousands of miles and it's almost like new underneath still.

I used a Rustoleum industrial satin black on mine, didn’t seem to be too finicky about surface contamination. It’s held up ok.

I brushed mine but did have a spray can for a couple of bits that were easier than a brush.

The Rustolem brush on is still pretty good stuff.

I wonder what the Rapture would want under it? If its going to be the top coat, I believe I would rather have something under it they prefer. I had the inside of a truck bed covered with the Rapture once, with in 6 months, some spots of the Rapture was lifting, and there was never anything inside of the bed. I suspect it was probably a Rapture installation issue, but the truck was sold before the cause of the issue was addressed.
The point is, the Rapture is too expensive to be able to catch it with a finger nail and pull it off a painted surface.

  9. Read their instructions!!! It says right in their TDS "a 2k primer system is required for optimal adhesion and corrosion protection". Companies don't write TDS sheets for the fun of it.
