see, I kinda like the 18 inchers on it, but I don't the glittery paint.
strange, I know. here's where it may end up. two tone primer,
icky un-cool wheels, 265, dicks brakes, totally stock interior,
and a/c for here in az.

  2. I've read all the replies in this post and most of them were pretty straight forward opinions... except yours. The guy asked for opinions and got them, good bad and otherwise, he didn't ask to agree with all of them. Suddenly you come out swingin' at the HAMB, at the guys replying, at hot rodders in general... WTF?! If you don't like traditional rods and customs, go the fuck away.

Big wheels and skinny tires on big old cars are out of proportion. They "look" too weak and spindly to support the visual weight of the rest of the car. Ballet slippers on a lumberjack.

    Welcome BACK holmes!!!

    We saved another one boys...

  4. Replacing nice paint with primer is lame too. Put down the Old Skool Rodz and back away from the Chevy.

    Billet Specialty Drag wheels?....Huge WTF?

  7. I gave my opinion. No, not swingin` at HAMB guys. Just commenting on the thugs who think their opinion is the only one that matters, the ones with copious use of the 'F' word, telling how his car looks like "s***" or "dog f***", etc. I don't dislike the tradional rods, thats why I read on here. I do dislike the elitist attitude from the clowns that really dont have any reason to have that attitude. Live and let live, dude. You don't have to like everything that everybody does. If you did, we'd all have no taste and be driving rat rods with old small block Chevies in them. Rat rod, traditional rod, street rod, street machine, hot rod..call it what you like, we're all in the same boat.
And no, I don't think I will get out.

    So, you're here for.......what?

  10. I am here for the sparse amount of info I can find on Ford Y Block, `57 Fords, and stuff like that. I like traditional rods, just don't like the traditional rodder, lifestyle geeks like you see in Ol Skool Rodz..I just like old cars, man...not trying to start crap with the old guys here..

At any given time, I may have two or three sets of wheels to use. I like to drag race, and I like to go fast. I like Bogart racing wheels, but cannot afford the big ticket on them, plus the 6-8 week wait for them. Summit showed a new BS drag wheel that looks similar to my favorite Boart wheel, and only weighs a couple lbs more. These would have slicks mounted and be for my racing exploits only, as they are pretty thin rimmed, and south Mississippi roads kinda suck.

then, I'm installing a sun roof, so's my floor mounted cast iron power glide shifter with a skull knob can poke out top! but, seriously folks,
    thanks for the input.

  14. Don't have much too say about the tire/rim selection. But, maybe this thread is so WIDE, because of the big sized rims on the nice blue car?

I think the stance and color combo make for a nice look with the big wheels.
I think the white whites would also look really good if you had chrome reverse wheels.
Either way you go, it works good with the paint job. I like blue.

  17. I really worry what the current Hamb will turn into 5 or 10 years from now! What will our children's children have to deal with?

  18. Why not? Can't handle seriously fast street cars? Ever been 135 in a `57 Ford, stock suspension with add on traction bars? I have. I like the look of old junk, but I like my stuff fast. It takes a lot of boost to make a Y block the kind of fast I am looking for. Whatever it takes. . .

im with him primer is ok for a car that was a rust bucket prior to the paint. but taking off the shinny new stuff for some Rat Rod look........nope not good at all!!! remember there were a lot of super shinny traditionals running around in the day. suede is not necessarily traditional, leave the paint on it maybe throw some pearl on it if you want to be different and run the aluminum wheels. heck throw some pinstripes on it and let it roll. it looks good like it is and your not pissing the value down the drain.

Nice car. Do what you like, thats all that matters. I've loved wide whites ever since I was a little kid (35 now......, I think?), but If everyone had them what fun would that be???

The only thing I see is that the drums hurt the overall look of the bigger open wheels, but thats just my dumbass opinion.

If you really want'em to look at you, scratch their heads, and give them something to talk about - run big wheels on one side, and whites on the other. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

And yea - Why is this tread so wide?

Alot of the folks on this site prefer to read car magazines, not lifestyle magazines. Think of OSR as Details magazine for greasy-haired 8th grade dropouts.
