That makes sense on being industrial. We have had a lot of coal mines around this area for years, as well as the iron ore mines that made Birmingham a city back in the day. The few Williams pieces may have came from some of those mines at one time, in a tool box, a lunch box, or a pocket. I’ve bought several small boxes of used tools over the years at flea markets and yard sales, sorted out the junk and kept the good stuff. That’s why my boxes have Craftsman, Mac, SnapOn, Williams, Proto, Stanley, even have some Harbor Freight stuff that was made in India, not China!

Let's all agree to buy our tools where ever you want to buy them.
If you do not like HF then why do you keep going back there to buy more tools.

If you love Snap On, Mac or Craftsman then just go and buy them.
I do not really care where other buy their tools I only care about where I buy my tools and that is the way it should be for everyone.
Why would I care where some guy on the other side of town buys his tools? That up to him not me.

  5. Do you wanna have some fun?
Go to your local Harley dealer, you know American motorcycles and purposefully look lost and confused in the accessories department. Before long someone will ask you if they can help you. When they do say yes I was looking for something made in America. Can you help me find one please.

Study economics if you want to and how how the whole deal got started. I can guarantee you it was not the Chinese government or the Chinese people who set out to fuck us.
There was just too much pollution and waist generated by the US because their industry. Send that pollution somewhere else. Make it impossible to generate product without violation of newly created pollution standards here.

We’ve Got double mouth policy, one is we’re now a global community and the other is separation. So the pollution will go away with the industry (separation) Move the industry to a global level and the global pollution still against the global community. They created a no pissing section in the global pool. Everyone but US pissing pollution in the global pool now.

@31Vicky with a hemi gets it. It's hard to discuss this topic without infringing on the "no politics" rule; but it's basic Economics 101 stuff, you know, free market capitalism. The truth is that living standards for consumers in the west have been greatly enhanced by the availability of low priced goods from the far east. And while there may well be issues with quality, well, those are getting fewer and fewer all the time, as producers in the far east get better and better at meeting consumer demand for quality. At one time, most of you will remember this, "Made In Japan" equaled "Piece of Crap". That changed around the 1970's I suppose, when Japanese producers concentrated on improving quality (lead by American business consultants I might add), to the point where products made in Japan were the equal, or better, than American counterparts. As a guitarist, I know that late 70's Japanese made copies of American guitar brands were every bit as good or better than the American guitar makers were turning out. That ended up lighting a fire under the asses of the American brands, and they upped their game to compete. The same can be said of automobiles. The Big 3 American car producers had to up their game, and the consumers benefited. The old story, competition improves the breed. And, you still have your choice. As others have said, you don't like Harbor Freight, don't shop there. It's your loss, or not, it's all in how you perceive it.

If you really want to see manufacturing brought back to the west, than support policies (and policy makers) that support manufacturing. Less regulation and taxation would go a long way toward lowering the cost of manufacturing here. If you support politicians that create legislation that drives manufacturing over seas, than don't complain about import products, that is illogical.

I think a lot of people do not remember or choose not to remember the quality of the American cars from the late 70s until Japanese quality scared them enough to start making a quality product. The made in America mantra in the auto industry was as worthless as tits on a chicken.

I'm told now that the quality is as good or maybe better than the Japanese cars. Could be, I guess. Their shitty product and shittier atitudes have kept me away since the last new American I regretfully bought. It was a 1976 off topic brand new car that quit on the way home from the dealership. They towed it in and called me two days later and said it was fixed. It quit on the way home again. I don't know if they still have it but I never went back to get it.

People down China made stuff, but you have to remember the average person in China is probably a hard worker that gets paid very little to do the crappy dangerous jobs that we don't do here anymore. I have nothing against the people of China, it's their government that I'm against. They are the ones trying to take over everything.

This thread is almost 3 weeks old. Isnt it about time for another HF bitch thread?

Ive always seen the place as buyer beware, some of the stuff is junk, and some isnt bad.

10 dollar grinders, i currently have 5, no need to swap, just grab another tool

10 dollar paint gun, lays primer like no other and saves wear on my Iwata

The tool boxes, heck, just as nice as any other I own.
