    I GET INSANE!

Today I tried to install the headliner I got from Chevs of the 40s.

    Have a look

This headliner should fit a 41 Chevy 2 door sedan. At least that´s what I asked for.

Have a look at those side parts that should cover the door post. It hangs more than 16 inches to far behind.

Not 1 of the loops is in the right position.

I don´t know what car that liner is made for but not for a 41 sedan.
It probably is sewn completley wrong. I mean how long must a door be to fit that liner.

I´m in the mood to take a torch and burn the whole shabang cause I had some problems with them before but I will rather mail them the pics and see what they say. What else can I do from here? If I´m lucky they talk to the company that made it, then I have to ship it (on my own expense $35), then I may (or may not) get a new one (that will take 5 more weeks), than I have to pay tax and customs again and so on.

Ahhhh, I wish I would live in the US so I could go there and stuff that liner down the guys throat.

Sorry I just have to vent that off.

I wish it would be that easy. Of course we tried that (and of course that did not work).

In the rear section I have 4 bows pretty close together, also the liner has 4 loop there. With some violence I could press that in but the bows would be in the wrong angle because the sections have the wrong size. Or maybe the sections are sewn together all mixed up.

There's no one in Germany that does upholstery? Send it back for a refund and have a professional make you a headliner.

  6. You need to go ahead and INSTALL IT....
    Not a joke...
pull your first bow from the front where it is striaght across and spray glue the center of headliner to the header ABOVE windshield...

Then makeing sure all bows are where they go pull the headliner at the rear till the bows are all in position....straight across...

At this point staple[if cardboard strip] or glue it to the top of REAR GL*** opening...
Next you need to have a second guy ideally, to start the wrinkle removing side pulls...
with a guy on each side two handed pulls till the wrinkles are about all out...
You may also need to CUT THE ENDS OF "SEWN BOW POUCHES" at the ends to allow the pulling enough to remove all wrinkles sideways...
these "pouches" or tube like peices of material- are what is sewn [above on the headliner] for the bow to fit thru....
Just cut them at each end with scissors till the headliner will pull more to each side and allow it to smooth out....

Then using a dull edgetool or old dull putty knife- push the headlier UP into the claw strips above doors...
    this will hold it up.
NOTE: THE WINDLACE should be intalled first probably and the headliner will cover their tacks up].

That post peice can be cut off and installed at the correct place last....[by gluing it over a strip of interior board cut to fit]
I bet that was for a [4 doors rear door post]....

After pulling from both sides above rear QUARTER gl***..repeat pushing headlining material UP into the "claw strips"...
You will have a lot to trim off in excess there too....

At the rear roof pillars you need to pull the wrinkles downwards till smooth -then tack to the cardboard strips on rear shelf corners.....

After all this you still may need to spray a mist spray of water on the headliner and use a blow drier to shrink it some or set out in hot sun with gl*** up for a few days....
