Hello. My father recently purchased the AHRA Champion Sunbeam Tiger and I am researching it for him. It was sponsored by Larry Reed Sportscars and driven by Gordon Chittenden. It was tuned at Performance ***ociates and raced at Lions and other LA area tracks in 1965 and 1966. If anyone has any pictures or information on the car please let me know.

I'm also looking for contact information for Ron Root or Don Von who worked on the Tiger at Performance ***ociates back in the day.

    Thanks!

There was a book published by Floyd Clymer ***led Performance Tuning the Sunbeam Tiger. It was written by Gordon Chittenden. I've seen reprints for sale on ebay. There is a nice picture of it on page 127. Try www.rootes1.com for more information leads.

Here is a picture of the Tiger. I am actually the current President of STOA, and know the owner of Rootes1, but thank you. My father is an original owner of another Tiger and knew Ian Garrad, father of the Tiger. One weekend back in the 70s, he drove down to LA to visit. Ian took him to meet Gordon Chittenden, who ended up giving my father some of his negatives. So I have a fair amount of pictures of the Tiger. Unfortunately, all are black and white.

I have not been able to contact anyone who worked on it. I also have very few times for the car. Thank you for any help.

Finally, no, we won't be putting a big block in it. It will receive a full nut and bolt restoration, put back exactly as it was when raced.

    Thanks again!
