Can somebody identify this air cleaner or better yet, where can I get one. Thanks in advance,,,, Ernie
I'm thinking maybe Mopar big-block, could be anywhere from 1961 to 1966, as there are no provisions for the oil breather cap venting. BUT, there is no flat area between the snorkels for where the air conditioning compressor is located when the air cleaner is installed, so... The GM air cleaners are tapered, as in the second picture, where the Mopar air cleaner is not. It might well be a modified GM unit with Mopar snorkels. Interesting.
Thanks patrick66. Looks to be a GM like Tommy mentioned but you might be right about the snorkels being Mopar. I think I'l get me a used one ( GM ) and make my own snorkels. I love that look and I think I got something to start with now. Thank you both. Ernie
if ya wanna make one, they show how to do on mucle car[spike tv] project blue collar http://www.mypowerblock.com/ they'll show it again tomorrow, pretty easy to make
The 1966 Nova L-79 327/350 air cleaner looks the same, but has twin snorkels.... You might want to look there also....
The L-79 chrome aircleaner is a high ticket $$$ item with completely different snorkels. My buddy threw his away in 1965 on his Chevelle too. That's why they are so expensive. Any muffler shop should be able to make the tube snorkels for you and you can use the much cheaper 2 bbl A/Cleaner top
Thanks again Tommy and Deuces. I got me a good, used unit from flea-bay like the first one that Tommy shows with one snorkle. Next is a trip to a muffler shop like Tommy sugests and PRESTO,, got me a unique air cleaner that I like. Thanks guys,,,, Ernie................
