Hey guys, I dont normally ask Airbag questions but need an opinon. Im using 6" slam bags on a severely lowered car. I normally set up the rear brackets to have about 3 1/4" between the brackets. Ive always heard slam bags are about 3" at full compressed height. but whos to say that airbags are always aligned and perfectly straight at compressed height, Due to axle articulation. Question is the way i want to set up my bags is alowing for 4" spacing between the brackets. Anyone think thats Too much space?? I know it dosent seem like alot to cry over but might need all the lift i can get on this car and dont want bags fully inflated to ride like a brick at ride height. an opinions be appreciated thanks
At Slam's website they have all the measurements for their bags. Because they've got bumpstops inside 'em I say mount them as compressed as you can.
I agree, set them up fully compressed. If you set them up bag over axle, you will get the same lift that the bag offers,6",8" etc... the closer you mount that same bag to the foward piviot point the more lift you will gain.
If you have ever seen a cutaway of one of there bags you would see how well they are made. The internal bumstop is made out of a peice of nylon about 2.5 to 3 inches round. They are very sturdy.Get a mate to compress the bag on your bench, measure the overall height, and there is your dimension! I did my 54 Cad coupe with them, they are a quality product.
