My air compressor crapped out and my truck is aired out on with the frame on the ground. Luckily it's in front of my brothers house. The problem is he lives on a steep street and I'm not comfortable jacking the car up there. The compressors under the bed and I need to get at it to figure out what is wrong. So I need to fill the bags so I can drive it into his garage. I read thru some of the posts and there was some mention of using a Schrader valve on the T fittings. I know It's probably really simple but how do I do this on 3/8" lines?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

  2. get two 3/8 striaght fittings (push to connect, would be easiest)and a t block put the fittings in the block with the schrader vavle on the top

What are you using for fittings? On mine I have the push to connect fittings. Off of the main feed line into the tank I have a T that runs a line out to another push to connect fitting that is a schrader valve. Check with your local napa, they should be able to fix you up. If I can get by my local NAPA tomorrow I will see if I can find the part numbers for you.

    Hope that helps.

  4. You can disconnect the compressor, get a fitting for that hole on your tank to adapt the schraeder valve, and filler up. Make sure there is no air in your system at all when taking things apart.

    KrustyTrucks, cped, and Rusk,

Thanks for your help!!!! cped, the fittings I have on the system are the 3/8" push to connect type. Is your system 3/8"? The only schrader fill fittings I can find online are for 1/4" line. If anyone knows where I can order a 3/8" line schrader I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks again for all the help,

    Rusk,

What you are saying makes total sense to me. Unfortunately I can't access the tank without jacking the car up. But, I can get to the lines. If all else fails I'll cut a hole in the wood of the bed and go your route though. Thanks for the advice!!!!!

  7. No prob...I'm trying to think of the fitting setup that would work for you. My schraeder valve is 1/4" pipe, so any adapter that can take the threaded end of the 3/8" push-in fitting would work.

Hardware stores like Lowe's and HD have fittings here for a decent price that might work. I'm thinking a T fitting that'll take two fittings with 3/8" compression fittings on each side for the line and then an adapter fitting that'll take the 1/4" schraeder on the other. Usually works best to go into a store and start putting things together to come up with the cleanest combo with the least fittings...if that store's available in your area

    Good luck.

    Rusk,

Yeah, I think you are right. I'll hit NAPA, Ace Hardware, Lowes and Home Depot tomorrow. I'm sure between all of those I can come up with something. Just a matter of coming across the right stuff here.

    Thanks again,
