Someone is making repros of bomber seats I seen it in the new OSR mag. I dont have the new mag here handy to look at it and see who it was that making them.

  3. these are being reproduced and they are very nice. Too bad they are being reproduced. I would love to run a pair of these in my car but then I reminded myself they are reproduction. Use thes pictures and make your own. these are going to start showing up all over the place and that would ****.

I've been thinking an aircraft style seat would look neat in my 'T'. I happen to live a minute from the US Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. Gonna visit the museum & check out seats. If the public can walk through any of the planes maybe I can get some dims. They should have a pretty serious resto shop, maybe some spares there, I'll let you know what I find. WWS

Whitewallslick, Thanks for the link to the Air Force Museum, we were there this past summer, FAR BETTER that the Air & Space Collection in Washington D.C. If you are in the area take a half day and go through it. Real aeroplanes have propellers!

Zach, Take a ride over to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing www.emmr.org there should be a T bodied drag car there with an old bomber seat. They may have a few old stock cars that used them as well.

I'm thinking a pair of First Cl*** seats from a 747 would look good in a T-Bucket, comfy too.

I have a genuine seat. Just one. You could use it to make another

I think it's cool to see someone step up and reproduce those seats. You're one wierd dude, Gooch.

  18. I guess I'm not good with words. my point is, the parking lots will be full of them soon. there's nothing cool about that.
Run whatever you want, buy what ever you want. Repop frame, Ardun heads, body, grille, garnish mouldings..... why not the seats? Repop it all!

    Life is one giant repop.

  19. I'm like Mr 42....made my own from steel. The bottom is 14 ga., the sides are 22 ga. There's a 1/4" dia. rod all around (skip-brazed) to add stiffness and a 1" X 1" angle across the front. It will look much better when cleaned up and painted.

Disliking something because it's popular is every bit as goofy as liking it because it's popular. And a well exicuted reproduction has real value to me. I can appreciate the thought and work that went into it to make it right.

My seat is made of steel (1mm thick).
And i have point welded a 10mm steel rod around the edge.

I thinkt Grimlock has a point, and the funny thing is that Hot rodding is a No rule sport.
But everyone knows how to do it right ;-)

Uh sorry Tman, I didn't realize that the guys at VLV who gave me the card that said "Hot Rod Surplus" were in fact the guys from Nostalgia Flame Works until I looked at the phone numbers. Oh well, though I do like the long ovals better than the multiple round holes....

LOL, Cool yes, but I could never pay 850 for some seats that arent very comfortable. I road in enough jump seats and **** in the air force, dont plan on doing it in my ride.

sure its much cooler to have original parts
but from my point of view for me to find a real pair would be kinda hard from sweden unless i would find an add or an ebay auction, i think i will buy a pair actually, just what my model a pickup is missing...

i dont care if something is repopped as long as i get a genuine feeling , i would rather have a brockville body then a rusted roadster that would need ages of work to get in good condition... just not to keen personally of owning gl*** stuff though, ... each to ones own...

  26. Hey, nothing wrong with repopping unobtanium. I have an uncle that is retired military and lives int eh Southwest. He has been after a set of seats like this for me for several years.

FYI, these guys told me that they made em 4"? shorter to fit open hotrods better. I like em but at 425, I cant do em now. And I also want to know how comfy they are?

well in that case the ones with originals can shine out with their 4" taller seats...

  29. If you put airplane seats in it don't forget the pilot's relief tube! [IMG]

  30. Not quite airplane seats, but Crease has helicopter seats. Look past the boat seat inserts and ignore the oh so cute rooster pillow.... [IMG]
