Check Rootlieb. Besides hoods, they make a kit for an old model T Speedster. I`m running both thier seats and gas tank in my `30 RPU. The seats are about $60. apiece.Hotrod Walt made a set of cushions for me.They have a plywood base.I cut the sides down to make getting in and out easier. http://www.rootlieb.com/html_files/mt_spd_kit/mt_spd_kit.html Wanted bomber seats, but couldn`t find a matched pair for for less then a small fortune. Their seats and tank made life easier in building the RPU! JR...
Im thinking maybe tractor seats with backs welded to them. Seen one in a vintage race car and thought it looked cool.
Here is my seats up in the attic, may sell them or use them someday if I get another project... they are out of a 50's military transport.
Zach, if you are not totally committed to the bomber seats I have been checking into the dimensions of some plain and simple seats for a roadster. Not sure what the height is yet but the price is reasonable. JC Whitney has them but Summit Racing has them $10 cheaper at $118 each. Seems like a good price. They are made for older Jeeps by TrailMax. See http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=search.asp&type=bykeyword&searchtype=both&part=TrailMax+seats&x=19&y=10 Hopefully they are not too tall for a 28 RPU.
thanks for the info on the jc whitney seats but thats more then i need to spend on seats really...i'll probably juyst end up making plywood with foam and some material over it for now and then make my own bomber seats once i get around to buying a bead roller thanks zach
