Hello there! I'm gonna get my 1951 chevy bagged and concidering to use Airride's air over leaf system to the rear. Does anybody have experience of that? good and bad things would be appreciated :)
Pictures how you did on your ride would be awesome!

but how low will it be with stock frame and this solution? would it be necessary to change the kickup to get really low?

I did my sons s/10 like that and was not happy with the results.I would make some type of 3 or 4 link if Iwas doing it. The ride was very bouncy and just not what I wanted.

I had a '51 Chevy sedan delivery with it and didn't like it. If your going to bag it, just do it right and four link it.

you should check out GambinoKustoms.com or 50Chevy.com a lot of good info there. I am working on my 50 chevy and can not decide what to do with it. I like the look of bags but it seems like a lot of work and from pics I have seen you loose trunk space. some guys have refab the rear inner fender wells move gas tank up C notch the frame. what are you going to do with the front end? got any pics ?:)

had my 50 Chevy done that way. no C-notch and it sat pretty low (i'll post a pic). it had3 or 4 inch lower blocks and i think a leaf or two removed. i forget. i did'nt care much for it that way but it was better than the air shocks that were back there when i bought the car. it did have to have a hole cut in the trunk floor for clearance where the top of the differential housing hit the floor. i had tall skinny bias ply wide whites on it and with it aired all the way down the tires bottomed out in the top of the rear inner wheel wells.
i'd recomend a 4 link out back if you realy want a nice ride and decent handling.

if your not afraid of a little fabrication (or know someone who can do it for ya) i can sell you a much better kit for less money. you can use this kit with or without a 4 link. i don't sell 4 links though. PM me if your interested.

...i guess i don't have any pics of that car on this computer. sorry.

  7. Hey Walle
I have a 51 Chevy that I bought the Air Over leaf kit for, but I'm now thinking about doing some thing else to air bag the back of my car. They call it a "bolt on kit" but you have to modify the frame a bit and the brackets to fit, also the bolts that came with mine were not long enough to go through the frame. The picture below is of my car with the stock drive train and no notch in the frame. The Axel is sitting on a 1 inch tall bump-stop. This is a low as you can get the car without cutting the floor for drive shaft clearance and notching the frame. The front leaf spring perch is sitting about 4 inches off the ground with BFG 640-15 tires. Hope this helps.

Alriiight! what a response :) It can't be so bouncy? that also depends what bags he bought and wich ridehight he drives... Right now im driving a slammed -65 volvo pickup with removed springs around.... that's bouncy :D

Im not afraid of doing fabrications, but im only 17 years old and have no varm garage at the moment...So both my experience, tools/machines and cash are limited...

kan't spell: thx for the pic! it's nice to have a good pic of the total when im going to plan what im gonna buy!

At the front im concidering to buy this:

    ARF6001 MII/tubular front kit $549.00

What do ya think? Im new into air suspension so tips for the front would also be awesome!

just keep doing your homework kid. read as much as you can and look at as many setups as you can. thats my best advice. that and don't skimp out on cheap parts or half ass your work. you will lose in the long run. keep in mind that not everything you see on the internet is gonna be top notch work or even well thought out designs. you have to use your best judgement and maybe ask someone who knows when you finaly decide what kind of setup you want to go with.

if you have any questions i will do my best to answer them as quickly and thuroughly as possible. i've been working on air ride suspensions for about 12 years now.

good luck and just keep learning as much as you can. i love to learn new things, it keeps the mind sharp. ;)

with the air over spring, it will not lower your car, only raise it from its current height. from what I have seen, expect only about a 2 to 3" lift (maybe 4).
