Just wanted to finally introduce myself after lurking here for over a year...Anyhow, my name is Reed and I live in Birmingham. Got introduced to hot rodding the way some of you might have, through the pages of many magazines...but in my case it was the pages of CARTOONS...Trosley might be responsible for all my madness...just maybe.

I started off my hot rodding adventures by hangin out at my dads shop, slowly getting a little responsibility around the place. I was into mini trucks at the time, and my dad and friends helped me drop a mild SBC into my S-10 Blazer...oh the taste of speed!

Fast forward a year and I am now driving a car I always wanted, an 87 Buick GN. I met some really cool people with my Buick, and loved the car BUT there was only so much I was going to do with that car...I still needed a creative outlet.

My dad and I juggled around a few muscle cars, and a couple of odd ball projects, never finding what we wanted. Well, one of my dads good customers-turned-friend was a guy named Brian Logan...Kustm52 over here in HAMB land. Lets just say his suede ride was giving me some ideas.

I was also very lucky to have some influences in the fabrication world...the past few years had been spent becoming friends with John Myers and Mickey Cox, who happend to challage me on what seemed like a routine basis...tig welding, basic lathe and mill work as well as a well versed education on going fast!

Well, the years p***ed and I have found myself finally with a hotrod project...my buddy Matt, a.k.a. coupe on the board, found a '36 FoMoCo Pick em up hiding in a barn...finally got something to work with!

Sorry for the long intro...how about some progress pics!

Anyway, the truck currently is channeled 4", new crossmembers fabbed front and rear, we pushed the rear out about 2", and the front about an inch to give us a little more wheel base...I like the look of it long and low...
Currently will be running a small Ford I-6 with a C-4...tossed in an old Rajay turbo for good measure. It has Juice brakes, 15" steelies with radials for now...got a long way to go, though.

Shot of the engine...we still have to build some real engine mounts, and I am going to move the firewall back a little and put the butchered up pieces back in. Left the original X member in it...did not want to chop up the frame too much, makes for a cozy interior with the auto trans.

    Thanks, Reed.

Sounds like you live near where I used to... I wonder if I know you? Did you ever come into Karen's Cafe down on 150 in Pelham? I was the girl that worked there that always talked cars and had a green 49 ford parked out front...

Went to Karen's every now and then...usually hanging out with my co-workers or employees...best home cookin' in Pelham for sure...just kinda hard to get back to work with a stuffed tummy! I do not think I ever met you, but probably would recognize the Ford, though. I am sure that we know many of the same people!
