Here's your chance. Hotrod34 just introduced his friend to the HAMB last night. He (Tony) just picked up a '53 Chevy outside of Gas City Indiana, and he's broke down. ANY Hambers that could go give him a hand would be appreciated. He's at the intersection of Indiana Route 22 and Meridian Road just across the street (and I'm not kidding) from the funeral home. His name is Tony, ph#847-980-6658

This is supposed to be a "good running" car that he bought from the four letter word. (e@!*y) Anyway I don't know what his plan is.

Thanks for looking and offering to help.

I think for the time being the car will sit in a safe place. But as I said earlier I don't know if he will try and get his money back from the seller. If not he will most likely need trailer transport to Chicago, or maybe a piggy back ride to Indy, then to Michigan City, then to Chicago. Who knows?

    Thanks,

    Adam

Unclescooby, thanks for the offer. Tony drove down there with a friend and they are on there way back to Chicago now. The next step will try to arrange a trailer. He is tring to contact the person he bought the car from but has not had any luck yet. I guess they were visiting someone in the hospital tonight so that is why they are not answering their phone. I will keep you updated, if a trailer is needed we will need help to arrange one.

    Thanks,

    Adam

First I want to thank every one who looked and offered help. I just talked to Tony and we need to find a way to get the car from Gas City to Chicago suburbs. If any one can help locate a trailer and would be willing to get the vehicle at least a part of the way to save costs please contact me or Tony.

    Thanks for all the help,

    Adam

According to Mapquest, that's about 185 miles or so.

Neither of them have AAA Plus? (I'm sure they would have thought of that by now, though).

i think i'm about 4 hours from Indy and about 3 from Chicago. it's not exactly "on my way" but if all else fails i have a trailer and i would help out if he covers gas and maybe a Big Mac or two for the road.

just PM me if i'm needed.

triple A plus only covers 100 miles i think, but i guess that would help, then the other 85 miles would be like 3 dollars a mile i believe.

That really sucks. I'd be 10x more the nervous wreck that I already am in my '55 if not for AAA!

Norton, I think that they give you 400 miles per year, and 100 per call. So, I've never done it, but if you've got enogh time on your hands, you can get the first 100 miles, then have them drop you off wherever, then call them back. Or so I am told.

hey guys, this is tony, the guy with the stranded '53..thanks for all the offers of help and suggestions, i really appreciate it. I think im gonna just try and trailer it back to chicago if i could, because even if i get it running again, i dont trust it to make the 190 miles or so back until i can completely go over that thing. so thats where im at right now. Thanks again
