Things I did today.. Worked on a 27'T rdstr pick up Gapped the front sheetmetal on a 61 Bubbletop (thats the 59 coupe under the blue tarp) Reinstalled the rebuilt alternator on a 250K$ LS powered 57 Convertible. Look at the wonky angle on that steering shaft. And welding holes closed, on 69 Camaro.
I didn't take the engine and trans out, so I don't know how many gaskets it's going to take, to get the right clearances. Drilled out the broken bolts and tapped the 50 Cheevy 2dr sedan's man-well trans, output shaft, housing. Waiting on parts. Should be here, tomorrow. Finally sold the 57 150, as well.. finally!
First time dealing with a 6cyl an enclosed driveline. I have a better idea now, why the design was s****ped. The T5 / G Body 3rd member swap, makes a lot of sense, for sure. You can keep that "all original" garbage 50 Chevy 2dr sdn ..
“Wasn’t worth restoring” is an interesting comment. The key word being “worth” which can be calculated in a variety of ways. If you just want to restore and then flip a vehicle than that may be true. But not everything in this world is measured in dollars and sense. I have the last car my dad had ordered. It’s a four door ‘69 LTD with a 390 c6 combo. To me it’s is worth it because it was my dad’s and we did a lot of trailering with it when I was young. I also have my wife’s grandfathers ‘46 Chev Fleetmaster four door which he bought new after the war which was a bit of a feat around here. A couple of others that some may not think are worth it but that’s always debatable. Now I do have four very desirable cars that will definitely be worth it in terms of dollars. Everything is relative I suppose...
New parts seem to be inferior. Clicked the old crank, back on, aaand VIOLA el manuel window roller upper downer, is back on track https://youtube.com/shorts/4CTef0evKUI?feature=share It won't let me embed this video.
Where I come from, 4drs are parts cars. Long beds, are work trucks. But to each their own. I get that
Same. Eventhough I've always preferred the look of a long bed truck. Long and low. The fact that they're also more functional was jut a bonus.
up here, most old cars are treated as cl***ics, even if its the most undesirable rotted out piece of garbage, even 4 doors.
My back was killing me, this day. I needed to stay seated. The video ends, because I couldn't hold the camera and plug my ears, at the same time. IT WAS LOUD, to say the least..
Today, was one of those days, when you get to see your ideas set in motion. Norm Porter's 27 Rdstr PU Made a pushrod, to replace the bent one Radiused the 4 support brackets, on the radius rod. And while the outside temperature, is warmer than 65°, I permanently attached the aluminum bracket, to the lower rear panel of the rdstrs pu body.
With that rear panel, now being removable, it's a lot easier to take the body on & off. Going to the Winternationals, today. The winds have died down, so it should be quite thee adventure.
The trunk floor is in. Gas tank reinforcement braces, are on. Repaired the rust on the wheel well an inner reinforcement panel. Then installed the qtr pnl. Started on the psngr side..
I am able to work on the roadster, a little less than 2hrs a day. Today I was able to get back on the floor patterns. Still have some figurin' to do. Norm mentioned he thought the tunnel be made in 3 different pieces. I think it looks better, this way. Edit: that piece laying on the driveline tunnel, fits into the tunnel, up to trans hump.. 27 T rdstr pick up
Pictures 1 & 2 are my of my first attempt, fumbling around trying not blow holes in the 3003 .063 aluminium sheet. 3 & 4 are of my second humble attempt at stacking dimes, while GAS WELDING aluminium.(they'll say it can't be done) Jocko taught Doug Kruze, Kruze taught Norm Porter. Norm taught me. My smile is from ear to ear, right now
This 50Merc was wrecked in the rear. So Al had Marcel Deley make a whole new rear section, and he welded it on. I finished up any welding it needed and m***aged the quarters, to fit the trunk lid. Which you couldn't open, because 'whomever' had slathered gallons of bondo on both, to smooooth things out. The cat walk, it'll be going back to its original design instead, of the wonky no-flow jobby on there, now. I'll be shaving the gas lid door and frenching the taillights. I just finished the buckets to use the stock taillights. The day it showed up. I've repaired the driver qtr and C pillar. I have to finish the rounded corners on the decklid..
