I'm into long roofs...got a couple of new projects.

This one had been sitting in a garage not two miles from my place, it'd been there since 1983...and the owner finally got tired of stumbling around it and piling stuff on top of it. It has/had minor issues cuz the owner didn't know how to solve them and ended up making things worse. He took off the master cylinder cuz the brakes weren't working (and no wonder they weren't, they were metal on metal inside the drums and the vacuum canister was missing). The tailgate motor had been removed and all wiring torn out cuz he thot the switches were bad, when in fact, the safety switch on the tailgate was missing. I replaced that and the motor and it works fine now.

The interior is good altho the driver's side seat is torn...but SMS Fabrics out of Oregon had matching vinyl and the seat is now being recovered as well as the dash pad. We'll add loop carpeting as well. There were a host of other small problems - heater core leaked, wrong radiator and no shroud, thermostat missing, wiper motor now working (wired wrong), turn signals wired wrong. Radio didn't work cuz all the wires went to ground...duh...!!! We've recently found a Bonneville radiator and shroud and will put that in when we get it checked out...and of course, new exhaust. We've already put new whitewall tires on it and cleaned it up a bit...

Got this one for Christmas from my son...it's a rare Brookwood two door '60 Chevy wagon...it's all there as well as several extra parts and even the original radio with knobs is still in the dash.

Just after he had this one brought to his place in late December, he found a "near new" front clip at a body shop going out of business in Buena Vista, ColoRODo, taken off a car in the late '60's and stored. He bought it and brought it back home, it'll go on and the clip that's on it now, and the pair of extra front fenders inside the car will be for sale.

It'll need a steering column and wheel, a two-door bench seat, both door window mechanisms ...the driver's side floor will need replaced, some taillight lenses and an engine/******...

Hmmmmm, I've got an extra set of five-spoke mags laying around...and a nitrous flavored big block plus a B & M T-400 setting in the garage...that engine/****** may not be "traditonal", but it'd sure make that wagon a good street car...!!!

Hey Chris, thank you but no thanx. Two is quite plenty and easily (and cheaply) put back on the street...especially when all the parts are inside...besides...

Yep, this after I just "finished" a '55 Caddy...go here to see the 5 1/2 year build- http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329070&highlight=the+best+55+caddy+build I still need to put A/C in the '55, get the car re-polished AND put some miles on the new engine...oh yeah, and get a couple more things chromed...

Hoboy, the Sedanet is a long-term project...the Pontiac and Chevy are short-term and will prolly go up for sale when close. How you doing on yours...???

I like the (yellow) "redneck" hood latch. :)
This looks like a pretty substantial "project" but it'll be awesome when it's done.

Thanx Brer, appreciate the comment...I can see Champagne colored paint on the '60 Chevy, and lowered a bunch. Interior would be near stock...and dark tinted windows...

    Ghost28...looks who's talking...!!!

Jangleguy...and I can haul twice as many books in two wagons...!!!

Hot rod roadster...yep, know that well...now I can't ever say I've never owned wagons...!!!

Lug-nut...you should see how the tarps are held down...LOL...!!!

Wagons are cool. Good luck. Here's mine...

    Attached Files:

  16. I don't remember my '60 Catalina as having a radiator shroud, or if it did it was fairly short. Will have to look next time I am up where it's stashed. You won't find a nicer road trip car than one of those, I think, with the wide track and long wheelbase they handle great.

I love the Pontiac. 60 was always a favorite of mine. Fixing the PO screw ups is always fun for me especially when they are an easy fix and you don't have to pay top dollar for an "everything works" car. You just added a lot of value to the car but personally I'd have to lose the roof rack.:D

Yours prolly didn't...but like I said, the rad and shroud came out of a '60 Bonneville and it had factory A/C, so maybe only the A/C cars had a shroud...and I got it now...!!! Guess I'll find out about that handling when I get it roadworthy.

I like the roof rack...it just screams "'60's suburban family cruiser" and since it's factory, it stays. Yep, fixing the previous owner screw-ups has always been fun for me, too: "Hmmmmmmm, let's see WHY this thing doesn't work"...and I'm always amazed at how simple those fixes can be...and not cost any money.

Nothing yet, Nick...can't get it out of the garage...it's snowing like blue-blazes out here right now...has been since 6 AM this morn...and it's coming your way...!!!

    Stutz, thanx

    Arkie, haven't yet...!!!!

LugNut, the term redneck is offensive. We are Appalachian Americans. I've had numerous streetrods and several Tri 5's but the most fun I'm having is with the '62 Impala wagon in my Avatar. It's big, roomy and a great highway cruiser. It has front dropped spindles, a late model 350 with center bolt valve covers, a 350 transmission, power brakes and steering, ice cold air, 9" Ford rear and Coy's wheels. Wagons are hot right now, I hope they stay that way. That 60 Pontiac and Chevy will make great rides.

Captainjunk...I have a sis that lives in Pittsfield...been meaning to get out there and visit her...one of these days.

Gman0046, I think I drove thru Possums Crotch in '96 on my way to Mammoth...

Patrick, OK, but it won't be for sale til we get it drivable...hate selling something that's not "finished"...

c57heaven, thanx for the compliment, have you read my books...???

38FLATIE, yeah, the Chevy wagon would be the "hot rod" for sure...
