Number one would be the Jack Morgan 34 roadster...prechannel. I hate to say it but the Spencer car would be there too. The Scotty Mufler RPU would be third....don't have a pic of it. Clark
gotta be these 3 for me, in order of preference, 1) Bob McGee's (truly traditional) 2)Tony LaMasa's(only Ozzie didn't like it, Ricky did) 3)Tom McMullen's(as good as it gets)
1: Bob McGee's (still my favorite Hot Rod cover) 2: Neal East's 3: Tom McMullen's (I think the first version was 1963, so it just makes the cut-off) I hate leaving the Ala-Kart off, but the other three you could still drive.
I can only find 2 at the moment,I can't remember the name of the builder of the third one.Its a '28/'29 ''A'' on Deuce rails, built pre-war,'39 or so front axle(spring in front of axle).I think it was built at the same time as Isky's ''T''and its Black, red Kelsey wires with whitewall tyres.Does any body know the one I mean or have a picture of it,Its a VERY FAMOUS ''A''.Thanks. The others are Isky's ''T'' and Vic,s '32
i assume you mean this first one John Athans this one was built around the same time and same area i believe also though
1. Doane Spencer. The best ever. 2. Bill Woodward/Neal East/etc. Gold, full fendered '32 3. McGee. Think Bruce Meyer is looking for a foster son?
1. The Tommy Foster car -- gotta have it 'cause that's my name, and my car looks like his, only it's black, and got a Red Ram, and... but that's my name. Really. 2. The Doane Spencer car gotta be there. 3. The Tony LaMasa/Ricky Nelson car, and/or the Larry Hooks car. Not much difference except the color, and, and...Well, the concept is the same -- channeled '32.
SUHRsc, Thanks its the second one of these two,I knew somebody would know which ''A'' I was on about. Thanks again, I really have to build a Pre-War Hot Rod next! Nick.
1. Doane Spencer '32, the most beautiful car to ever grace the road 2. (the name evades me ) '32 roadster, this one is pale yellow and currently has a supercharged Cadillac 331 in it, used to be flathead, originally built for a doctor, had quarters filled by Barris. That should be enough to describe it 3. Chet Osgood '26 T with Ardun power 4. Honorable mention, Khougaz channeled '32
The Osgood car is an interesting pick. It's one of my favorite shapes ever... I guess the reason I didn't include it is that it isn't finished... and I think that would be a tough decision - finish it or leave it as a testament to Chet's naked work. And if I did the later, I don't know that I would enjoy it as much.
Yes...a tough decision.....but can you imagine what it would look like in a glossy black? Or a silver...... I love it as it is now....BUT it would absolutely RULE painted!
1. McGee/Scritchfield. 2. Wally Park's '29. 3. Hugh Tucker's AA/SR. Damn, there are a lot of roadsters that came close, most of them mentioned above; tomorrow, the list could be three different ones.
Well, since the three that I would pick are already in your garage Ryan, I'll pick three others! This is harder than I thought! I find myself categorizing it even further, top 3 dry lakes cars, top 3 show cars, top 3 speed built cars....decisions decisions! Veda Orr. I don't know if it is the car or the spirit of the person, but I'm in love with it! Frank Coon of the Low Flyers '32 (I can't find any pics on this computer but here is a link to the AHRF: http://ahrf.com/image_detail.php?type=advancedsearch&position=2 It's just sinister(big PERIOD!) Ed Isky's T. Everytime I see it I drool all over like it is the first! This is a neat editorial from the September 2008 issue of Drive! magazine. It really got me thinking about who owned hot rods before they became famous hot rods. Good read! (hope it is legible on this scan, couldn't find it online)
1. Giovanine/Spurgin '25 Chev roadster 2. Dahm Bros. T roadster 3.Don Waite's T roadster I like lakes roadsters!
I love early roadsters so my number 1 pick will stump you. 1. the Pete Van Inderstine roadster 2. the Calori roadster 3. Vic Sr.s roadster.............I chose the Van Inderstine roadster because seeing it for the 1st time at his speed shop started my love for roadsters that has never waned.
1 fred steele's 32 roadster 2 Mr Iskederian's T 3 Hugh Tuckers chevy roadster my 3 favs, but thats hard cause i like em all jeff
This is actually a mind boggling question when you really sit back and think about it, I really don't think there has been a bad choice on here, it's amazing how many track nosed cars pop up as well. my father owned the Kraft car for about 14 years long time ago and it's on my list because I want it but it is way out of my reach. 1) Kraft Special / Highland Plating Special T 2) Joe Nitti Roadster 3) Dick Flynt Roadster
Lots of kool roadsters I would agree on The Doane Spencer car next the McGee roadster but then I woukld Have to add one that happens to be in my garage at the moment. It would be the Tom Peterson Roadster. Andy Southard photographed and did an article on it in R&C July 1965 issue. He later put it in his book HOTRODS of the FIFTIES page84. I could go on and on about this roadster but I will save that for a post later. Stll gathering pics and writing the history of this car with the help of Andy Southard.
