  4. I picked this one up three weeks ago, the fourth vintage wagon I've bought this year.

It's a '55 Pontiac Chieftain 860 two-door wagon, one of 8,618. The paint and interior remain original to the car, from which I've found missing only the generator, outside rearview mirror, glovebox lock, cigarette lighter, and one original wheel.

The windshield is the only bad glass, and exterior rust is minimal, one small hole in each rocker under the door, and a crack in the right rear rocker between wheelwell and door jamb.

Inside, the floorpans need replacement, since you could drop a softball through all but the driver side, but the rear seat platform and spare tire well are sound.

The shadow of the dealer insignia on the tailgate shows the seller at one point to be H & M Implement Co. of Hereford, Texas.

Okay - here is my 1955 Pontiac 860, California car - no rust, though sheet metal is a bit rough - l have the original owner's log book for service, and its California black plates were included in the goody bag, log book shows it was still being taken back to the local Pontiac dealer for service into the early 70s - engine rebuilt in 1965 at 95,000, now has 175,000 and still purrs, now if I can just find 3rd gear...

I bought this but haven't brought it home yet. It's been sitting since 1970 so it can wait a bit longer

I wish my 57 Ranch Wagon had those tail lights and side trim. Really, I wish some one would put that stuff ON my ranch wagon. I'm too lazy. Neat car.

Ok you guys that had read about Still Runnin Magazine doing a feature on wagons - we are going to delay part 2 in the next release - and push it forward to the next after. SO if you sent me a wagon from the 60's and got no reply please email to me private to
    lea@stillrunnin.com.

For those of you who didn't and want to know whats up ... send me a hi-res photo of your wagon fromthe 60's and a brief blip of why you chose a wagon as your ride, along with what ever else you want to tell me abut it. Check out the wagon train in Still Runnin Magazine to get a feel of what we did for the wagons from the 50's.

thanks to all who submitted there cars!

I haven't been around for awhile but I am really glad to see how this thread has progressed. There really are a bunch of us long-roofers out there. I saw a super fine 55 Nash wagon today. Bone stock on the outside with a 350/350 combo, 9" rear and MII style front end with disc brakes. What a sleeper.
    Good to be back folks.

    Hi!

Been reading this thread for several hour's now. Wow!!

But I'll guess it's room for one more wagon. My 61 Country Sedan was sold new in Norway in 1961. It has been mine for about 15 years and has been a daily driver for several years. But now it's in the garage and waiting for my as* to get out there
Hopefully I can post some "after" pictures next summer:confused:

Jesus, I love this thread. Better than looking at porn. I know that it is not a Hot Rod, nor does it fit in these pages, but I have a nice driver 1980 Corvette that I would trade for a cool wagon if anyone is intersted. Maybe someone would want the Vette for their wife or something.

Here is my daily driver wagon. A beauty isn't it??? I am going to prime it gray and I already have my 13" porta walls ready to go on. Stupid I know but hey it is an 88 Mercury Tracer, so what do you expect??? It does get 30 MPG and has COLD a/c and only 90K miles.

Here is the wifes 64 Chevy II wagon. It is a work in progress, but she is doing a lot of the work herself. I'm damn proud of that! It had the rattle can paint job on it when she got it and I'm amazed how many people like it like that. We just took it on the Power Cruise to Somerset Ky. last month at her request. You gotta love a woman that not only tolerates the hobby, but want to take an active roll. Some things have changed since the pics were taken back when she bought the car, but you get the idea.
