Here is a rare one, with a sweet original paitn color still on it.

*Original 1957 Mercury Commuter 4-dr hardtop wagon with shaded glass.

Not a huge Ford person, but this is such a scarce model I thought some of you'd like to see it.
Came across it for sale in my searches this year.

You can Google and not even find many pictures of these...and it's original pink and white paint with the cruiser engine still in it! Where'd these all go?

Sweet...'56 Bel Air wagons are so hard to find that this one is almost worth saving, still!
    (AZ wrecking yard - foreground).

Over here some were called station sedans rather than station wagons, pity i can't post pics i have a rather nice customised cream and light green metallic 1958 FC Holden Station Sedan in my garage.

I took all of these at a yard near me that is soon to be completely cleared. This was not even 3/4 of all i saw there. Unfortunately they are all junk save for some glass or trim. The rust is so bad on them from being in the woods they are literally falling apart.

In this last pic I'm trying to open the door in this 63 and the side of the cowl literally tore away like paper.

    Can't save them all.

Really sad. But look at what is going to junkyards know- most of it we look at as generic crap that is all over the place- but at one time wagons were the SUVs of the day!
But I am not going to go restore an SUV- just sayin.

...here's my 1961 Pontiac Catalina Safari.

A fresh 389 (4bbl w/350HP), Mad Dog headers, front disc brakes and a four speed. Still needs some body work but I'm driving it between body shop visits.

All these longroofs are making me want soo bad to be working on mine instead of being stuck inside doing uni work.

Here it is, certianly not traditional, and very obscure. Anyone recognise it? only 1350ish ever made in wagon form.

Spot on, Chrysler Australia imported them as sedans and modified a 1350 odd into wagons, hence the sedan style C pillars.

I think somebody died in that wrecked Suburban. Maybe they were hauled to the morgue in that '68 Miller-Meteor Cadillac Volunteer?

  27. Can't believe this thread is still going on!If you like wagons in 1:1 scale as I do then you likely as not dig them in slightly smaller sizes. Here are a few from my collection:
    Nomads;Safaris;Chevelles;Pintos;Minis;and everything in between.Enjoy.
