Whats up everyone? Just joined this thread and thought I might as well introduce myself. My name is Jake, and am relatively new to the hot rod scene compared to most of you guys being that i'm only 19. I just recently started my first project building a 1930 model A coupe. I'm a Mississippi native, but currently live in North Texas where I go to college. Heard about the forums during my first trip to the Street Rod Nationals this year from the guys over at MDL. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
I live in Decatur, but I go to college in Stephenville. But my build is back in Mississippi in my grandpa's shop.
Hi. Lots of great car culture around Decatur. They have a big swap meet every year and just down the road at the Texas Speedway is the HUGE Pate swap meet every Spring. Both of these swap meets have tons of model A things. Also lots of happenings in Dallas & Ft. Worth. If you have not already found it there is a great restaurant over in Bridgeport called Yesterday's. They have a 50's movie & car culture theme and actually have a couple of reserved parking spaces at the front door for hot rods or classic or custom cars. Great prices also. They even sponser a big car show & cruise every year. Post photo's of your build as we are interested. Jimmie
I should have clarified a little more that I was born in Mississippi where most of my family lives but I've lived in Decatur for somewhere around 15 years. So I'm pretty familiar with the area. But I didn't know about the swap meet in Texas motor speedway! I'll have to check that out! Haven't been to yesterday's in years there's one in Decatur too... I think it's still open. I go back to Mississippi every chance I get to work on the car. Thinking about starting a build thread as soon as I get the time.
