As a young dumb****... I hastily installed a turbo charger on a V6 and in doing my own half-*** set up to get it on the road I routed a rubber fuel line from the high pressure pump up and hid it behind the turbo too close to my homemade bracketry and the line rubbed/burned through and sprayed a nice mist on the hot headers.... a teenage kid on adrenaline can cover the length of the alley in short order to get $9.99 bottle extinguisher - that jack*** move could have been alot worse than my eyebrows and $1000.

Glad to hear you are ok and thanks all for sharing the stories since you might have saved some lives for others reading this thread who are new to this and learn from others mistakes.

As for me... my current 2 car garage has 2 wall mounted and one in car, and I already designed a sprinkler system into my new underground garage house plans since it will be attached obviously (ounce of prevention..). It actually priced out pretty cheap to have installed considering the potential cost. The more dumb *** proof my life the better, (yes, I used to shoot ether into open carbs in a past life... thank God for snowbanks).

Glad you are alright, but that made me chuckle :) I would have had the exact same response, probably the exact same language as well.

That is very lucky. The car can be fixed again, the arm isn't as easy.

I am a strong believer in having fire extinguishers around, even in my work truck. Never know when you'll need one.
