That's what I did... I saw Jim and the "Projects" tag and just subscribed. Then I got to the good stuff. I can't wait to follow along as you clinically build another race car!

I believe the best Petty could do was low 10's but that was a long time ago. Talent ,Tires and Technology, the three T's are in your favor.

    I know, I know, you're not doing a back-motor car.
Are you extending the front clip like the Crazy Cuda and the S&M car?

Impressed, as usual, Jim. Interested in the transmission quest...only dim recollection of 'drums exploding' in 727s.
Tommy Groves' 'Melrose Missile' had an Art Carr modded 727, tranny was cut short of Bellhousing and tailshaft.
"Missile" was only a memory of stock Plymouth!

A street car that needs to run in the 8s. I love it. Those are great looking cars, can't wait to see what you do. Arizona just got a cooler.

That's a good question. I'm not sure yet. It's not a car that anyone else seems to want to own...it's one of those things that folks like to look at, and talk about, but no one besides me is crazy enough to want to actually drive it!

I'm thinking it might be replaced with plastic, anyways, to save weight.

  26. I had to open this just due to the Title and who it was posted by . Almost Funny was the name of the last Race Car I built. Almost sad how things evolved.

    Jim,

I wouldn't be so sure about that! You've got a a well documented, consistent deep 10 second car there (that has also gone into the 9's) that has gotten a ton of national exposure and press. I suspect that if you put Plan II up for sale in the classifieds you would have a lot of interest and a number of serious buyers.

I wish I could afford it but then I would be able to support my two habits...eating, and living indoors.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I wish you great success on this project.

But I will say, you have a very ambitious timeline.

Does it get cold in Sierra Vista? I didn't really think it did. When you start burning the Benjamins, it is going to create a lot of heat!

If you decide to stay vintage with the Hemi, let me know. I have a friend with a semi trailer full of vintage racing stuff including blowers, headers, transmissions, etc.

It gets cold here in WI, and he is looking for something to heat his home....

thanks! I'm going to be looking for parts, once I figure out just what I want.

    Yes, it's an ambitious schedule.
