The bike is a Schwinn I swiped from one of my hangar neighbors and modified. It was a quick project unlike the plane and the roadster. Before After
First time I've visited with you AC. What kind of roadster body are you building? Frame is really cool. Tim
Umm....Flattered, I think. '31. The body has been a real challenge. It was in poor condition, very poor. I think the previous owner thought that if you opened a can of bondo, you were required to use the whole thing. It's coming together now, but it's been a lot of patch panels, sub rail replacement, etc. I'm hoping to start getting it into primer this week. This shot is before I pulled it apart and really got into the body work. I drove it like this for over a year getting it mostly sorted out, but got sick of hearing RR, so finally pulled it apart for finishing.
AC: Your car is plain awesome! Man I love that thing. It would be hard to tear apart for sure but I know what you mean about un-intelligent comments. Mine's been called a coupster and no telling what else. You just have to listen and be nice. After all, when you get her slicked up, the same one's will ask if it's a glass car!!! They haven't been around long enough to learn the difference. Keep us posted, we're excited for you!! Here's a pic of mine the day I brought the body home. Sectioned and shortened. And the windshield surround wacked! A real cabrio, @#$% Tim
Well damn that about all I can say on the bike redo! And car looks pretty damned nice to. Must stop go clean my computor off now! Roger
All that black stuff really compliments the chassis. Will the floor be green underneath or black? If it was black the frame will stand out nice with the axles and such already there and the black floors as a nice backdrop to the rest. Nice car, can't wait to see the rest.
I think I'll paint the inside, bottom and firewall black, kind of like what Keith and Ryan are doing right now, although I'm likely going to texture and flatten the firewall paint a little bit. The jambs will be green though. I'm still debating the dash/fuel tank, whether to go green or black. Here's a pic of the upholstery.
More grinding today, but finally ready to start with some filler. It sure is nice to have friends that'll come over and help!
The black seems right, even on the firewall, although I'd make my firewall as slick and wet looking as it can get. Inside, I think the upper rail below the windshield in body color to complete the flow around the doors and deck, all the rest black. That upper rail comes off, right?
Looking good, no time to work on my T due to work pressures. Inspiring to see this getting paint. It's going to be a nice car. David
Thanks, I'd been lagging on mine for a long time. Same thing, other demands, etc. It's amazing though how many more hours in the day I'm finding the closer it gets to being finished.
Beautiful car, beautiful work! Just to throw it in: green and red shades go GREAT together as your exterior shows. With that nice interior I'd use green, but hell you've got great taste. Whatever you pick will look great. Enjoying watching this. Best, Dan
