hi all, my name is matt and i am the owner of a 65 plymouth valiant 4 door that i started driving after my grandfather p***ed away. i got into rods and customs as a result of trying to learn as much as i could about my car, but the real love of it came about as a result of being a designer. i love the lines of my car, and my desire to inject some personality into an otherwise stock car really turned me on to rodding. at first i got really into custom rods but later on i developed more of an interest in rat rods. the big thing i respect the most about rat rods is the fundamental idea that you can learn how to wrench your ride, you can make it fun and unique and yours, and all without spending huge bucks to give your car to some guy who will make your car better than new for tens of thousands of bucks while you really get little to no creative direction nor get to indulge in the pleasure of doing these things yourself. i'm big on DIY. and i'm big on learning. and i'm still learning. HAMB seemed kinda cool; aside from this site, the only other board on cars i check is the slantsix.com forum. anyway, it's great to meet you all! aloha, matt
