You show up with a horse and buggy and those chaps and your IN! Seriously though there is no "better" parking. We park good cars in the upper and lower lots so that people mill around. This year there was bitchin stuff everywhere and I hoped that would put an end to anyone feeling as though they had been put on the Island of Misfit Toys. Its true two cars snuck in even though they were too new... oh well, maybe next year we'll have armed gaurds. But believe me there is no cool kid parking unless you can get next to Pete and I snake that spot every year so good luck.

    Pete,
I find it hard to believe that you could improve on your car... but that new lettering looks just perfect.

    Geage,

Your car is not rat-rod-a-rific! Im talking about the cars with huge radials...

    12V generators are just fine.

So what is the criteria to get in? No radials, no billet, nothing newer than 1960 and what else?

  16. well let's see here. When did I put on the radials? Ummmmm, I think it was sometime around the late eighties when I got tired of switching lanes for twenty plus years of driving the '34 on bias ply tires.

I yanked the bias ply tires off my in-line powered '48 Chrysler out in Wyoming when one of them threw the tread (left front). I went to a tire store and replaced 'em all. Glad I did 'cause the car stopped trying to climb the sides of the truck ruts in the road. It's a pleasure to drive, now.

My '72 Chrysler still has bias ply tires on it but I rarely drive the car so they'll stay. If I decide to start putting some miles on it, they're history and when my GTX goes back on the road, it'll get radials as well. 122,000+ miles on bias ply tires was enough with that car, too.

And the twelve volt thing -- I added the alternator when the idler pulley shit the bed in the mid seventies. BUT the six volt generator is STILL on there and that 12.5:1 hemi WILL start, albeit VERY slowly, on 6 volts. -- some of you were standing around when I proved that very fact Saturday afternoon. I didn't switch most of the car over to twelve volts until '86. The dome light, horn, fuel pump, defroster are still six volts.

6 volts has it's place but 12 volts makes for a more dependable ride, especially when the weather starts to cool down and the engine gets a little harder to start.

My '48 Chrysler runs a dual voltage system, too.

Alter boys I think you should make it clear that if you bring a women whos showing cleavage or has more then 40% skin showing it over rides all the "gate" rules!!

Looks like a great show and a great group of people. :D

Nice to see all those pretty engine set-ups. I haven't seen so many Nailheads in one event coverage thread. There were also quite a few HEMIs and Flatheads.

    Fun stuff.

WTF! How'd I miss the chick in the chaps? Damnit, Pete! This is all your fault! I'm already workin' on installing the stripper pole & the revolving heart-shaped velvet couch in the back of my truck! Screw selling the crap I'm selling, I'm ready to make some real money! I can see it now, Galaxy Rod & Custom becomes Galaxy Rub & Tug! Now all I need is a few easy women & all you dirty old men will be emptying your pockets! Damn, I'm a genius!

I must admit though, even she was wondering why I got parked next to "a bunch of pipes" (I let her know to keep that comment to herself)

I absolutely do not care where anyone ,or myself ,gets parked...We had a great time and will again next year!
...but really, Pete, was it my disc brakes or my billet valve caps that got me in the upper lot, and those bubble gum sedans behind me went right down below!!??:D:rolleyes::D

Apparently the A-coupe with the arm and shifter glued to the roof is a traditional hotrod.

You know, I take that back....coker is now making some real cool radials that look like bias ply's, you have to look real close to tell the difference.
