  1. In my quest to switch my car's looks around in an afternoon, trying not to change to much that can't be undone in a days work. I was thinking of putting on these Pro/Stock valve covers only painting them red white and blue.
I'm not really to concerned about being period perfect just an all around "looks pretty good" and some what fits with everything else look. I suck at photshop but gave it a wherl and not sure it'll look good or not. I tried white headers with them, got better but also brought out the black on the body more.
I dare ask....Would the red white and blue valve covers fit in or not ?

You asked for an opinion; I don't think so.

Phil, I think the switch from this look

To the one you posted is pretty much a big enough change.

Maybe put that tunnel ram on it and open headers.

  4. I was thinking they might be a bit "loud" for the rest of the car, but the idea of it still sticks. Photoshop anyone ?

I like the RWB idea if you're aiming for a 70s theme. They'd scream spirit of 76 with the right touches elsewhere.

The logo on those V/Cs however is totally 80s and is all wrong for the car. Sorry. I even have a set and kinda like em, just not on that car.

What are you really trying to do with the look?

  6. I sure thought about the tunnel ram but the problem is these heads were cut 30 on the bottom but nothing on top(long process to figure that out). The current low 2 X 4 was cut 30 to match the heads but I didn't want to cut another intake to match.

  7. give it a little Altered look, but like I said nothing I couldn't switch back in a day

    That sucks dude.

I think with those wheels and tires, velocity stacks and some open headers.
    it'll look pretty racy.

I think the valve cover switch would be okay. Like you said, if you wanted to change, it would only take a few minutes. As for painting them RWB? I wouldn't. Kinda over the top. Even in these patriotic times.

By the way, I've always liked your T Bucket. Nice and simple.;)

How about painting them to match the block? A set of block huggers would look sweet. It's your ride, as long as you like it.:D

  11. thanks Fred, I like the white wall look but just figured something different for the upcoming season

whaaaaaaaattttt ????????? you freak, now go stand in the corner...lol

No offense, but generally speaking, any look that can be changed back in a day is probably going to be kind of halfass in either configuration. The only way to properly pull off any look is to to fully commit.

good luck whatever route you choose

  13. I also say no to the red/white/blue valve covers. The steel wheels and wide whites would look awesome on there.

What's the radiator shell off of?

  14. The white walls and steel rims have been on the car since 07, just trying something a little different with the mags and stacks.
The grill shell is off a NOVO stationary industrial engine, I found it in the attic of the garage and built the car around it. I've yet to see one stock, but think it's mid 30's, had a crank hole in the bottom and radiator fill out the top. There's not much info except the co. started making hit n miss in the early 1900's, but this came from a water cooled version.

my vote is also no on the rw&b vc's.
Ive done this once before on a set of rare Valve covers, and regreted it afterwards. The car looks mint as it sits.....

Not sure if i'd dig the rw/b cover's..personally i love the look it has now.
And as much as i liked it with the white walls, i LOVE it with the slicks!
Seriously, it went from looking like a real cool little hot rod, to one that look's like it's ready to eat your first born :)
But, that's just my worthless 2 cents :D
