damn thing stood back on the wheelie bars. When it came down one rear wheel must have touched before the other one sending me off to one side. I thought that little thing was going to go into a barrel roll but it didn't. When it fially stopped spinng I was facing the tower. I fired it up and dove it backwards up my lane and into the staging area. I checked it and it looked good so made another pass before the realization of what happened set in.

I would say "Good save, you're one hell of a driver" but we all know you were just plain lucky. Luck is a great thing. Better go buy some lottery tickets....

Damn...good that you got right back in it and did it again as you said...

  5. Glad you and car are OK. That is the problem with the hi powered short wheelbase cars, they can get out of hand real fast.
Have fun and keep it right side up!

No, it wouldn't have ended that way if it has happened at the eighth mile mark or closer to the end of the quarter!

  10. I was thinking the same thing, glad it turned out well.

Glad you saved it but you might want to reconsider that cage design. Is a 4 point cage really legal at your track? And there's no reason for your helmet to be out in front of the hoop like that.

You were very lucky in more ways than one.

That's the fun thing about altereds; you get to drive more than 1/4 mile to get 1/4 mile.

The cage also looks too short. Have fun.

The cage is a bit short and a bit shallow. It was built up late 60's to early 70's as best we could tell. The cage was professionally manufactured but would have to be upgraded to go seriously fast. It has a Olds/Pontiac rear with a spool, Hurst Airhart brakes and was rumored to originally have been set up for a Chrysler with a 4 spd.

  15. Well it ended better than the Pacers AA/FA down in Azarona last weekend. Time to adjust the wheelie bars bucko.

  16. That ugly scoop probably sent you sideways.

Hey, I just posted an innoccent message of something that I thought this group might find interesting. There's no reason to run my car down cougardan I just recently hooked up with this message board and thought what my shop does might be of interest to fellow members. Didn't know it would open me up to be publicly put down.

There are some here who believe it is their job to "correct" anything they don't like and some who believe that any newbie should be beaten down a few times. And then there are the genuine experts who, if asked, will share a serious wealth of knowledge.

I run a 360CI SB with a roller cam, Dart heads, 13:1 with a powerglide. All we pretty much did was install the driveline and paint it as it was bought as a roller. It needs a lot of upgrades and updating but it is running better as the temps get cooler here and the rings begin to seat. So far it's run a best of 10:12 @128. There's a lot of room for some improvement and we're hoping for high 9's before the track closes this year. Over the winter we'll do the mods. I'd like to go to fuel injection and alcohol.

Looks like a cool little ride to me. I like the traditional styled Bantam roadsters and yours definately has the bones. Have fun with it

  28. Not putting you down.

Just razzing you. Hell, I used to have a mustang bracket car with a formula one style scoop and I thought it was killer back in '84.

I like your car. AND, you have something that moves under its own power- compared to all of my unfinished projects.

    Stay away from those walls.

I like it! Looks like fun! Please tell me you won't put a tall cage on it! I'd put a dragster style cage on it and keep it as low as I could. Is it a moly chassis or mild steel? Running nines would be a scootin lil rascal in that! Hell, tens are fun I bet! A tunnel ram deal with a bugcatcher would be simple and really pick up the response. Lippy:D:cool:
